It’s been a few weeks since the eventful beach mission as I like to call it and I’ve had little to no communication with Ashley, shocking I know.  I have been spending a lot of time with Aiden which is become unbearable. It not that Aiden isn’t a good guy, he is an amazing boyfriend it’s just that he is not what I want.  This leads me to my current situation sitting in my living room cuddling with Aiden watching a movie. I think now is the time to have a talk with him about how I feel.

“Aid” I say hesitantly I don’t know if I can go through with this

“Hmm” He replies still focusing on the TV screen

“Umm can we talk its important?”

“Ok babe what’s up” Aiden turns off the TV and turns to face me “Are you still nervous about going to the prom? I know you don’t do the whole dance thing but I promise I’m going to make it special for us both.”

“I’m not worried about that I…. want to talk about us.” I can feel my heart beating against my rib cage, I’m pretty sure I am going to have a mild panic attack before I get through with this.

“What’s going on Spencer?’

“Well how would you feel about us possible going to the prom as just friends” I whisper out

“What I didn’t hear you?”

“Could we go as friends” Aiden’s eyes narrowed at hearing my question but it didn’t appear to be in anger maybe sadness.

“Are you saying you want to break up with me Spence?” Aiden questioned while turn way to face the TV

Oh god I can feel the guilt already starting to settle like a weight on my chest. Maybe this isn’t the right thing to do. I could hold off until at least after prom, but that would be unfair to the both of us.

“Listen Aiden I don’t want to hurt your feelings, you have been so amazing to me I couldn’t ask anymore from you.”

“So what is it then, what did I do wrong babe please tell me I can fix it.”

“You haven’t done anything wrong…I just think we should take a break”
