Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 26: Between a Rock and a Hard Place (Part A))

Ashley looked upon the intruder with an extreme dislike. Spencer was practically two seconds from telling her what was up! And who was this screeching banshee, anyway?

God, what was it with people’s timing? It’s like interruptions were the new pink. Unfortunately, the brunette had a strong distaste for both.

Spencer was standing, stiff as a stone, as she continued to have her silent panic attack. Staring wordlessly at the person in the doorway, she was beginning to have a blast from the past that she did not want.

“What’s up, Carlin, cat got your tongue?” the voice snickered from the doorway. “Didn’t expect to see me, huh?” they giddily ran over and threw their arms around the frozen girl, without even shooting Ashley a glance.

“Debbie…” Spencer breathed out, after finally finding her voice. “Uh…hi.” She wriggled out of the other girl’s suffocating grasp and offdred a small, tight smile – clearly fake to the trained eye. Ashley noticed and shot a concerned glace at the blonde before continuing her scowl at this Debbie person.

Debbie kept her eyes on Spencer, with a huge grin attached to her face; it soon turned to a pleased smirk. She was also blonde and a little taller than the youngest Carlin.

She was Spencer’s best friend, prior to the move, or so that was what everyone assumed. Debbie was actually more of Spencer’s controller and keeper.

The taller blonde was her high school’s head cheerleader and most popular girl on campus. She had a goddess-like status, and if one took the time to make the comparison Debbie was scarily similar to King High’s Madison Duarte…only worse. Much worse.

Move over power-trippers, this blonde was not to be messed with.

“So, I’m kind of offended, Carlin. I’ve gotten, like, no phone calls, e-mails, texts, or anything,” Debbie said, still keeping her smirk in place. It made the shorter blonde shudder slightly. “What, did you become a hermit after moving to L.A.? Think you’re too good for us small-town folk?”

Spencer shifted uncomfortably. “Uhm, no. I just haven’t had much time. You know me, always keeping busy.” She offered a nervous chuckle.

Debbie’s eyes narrowed, “Yeah, I’ll bet.” Her glance shifted to Ashley, for the first time since running into the room. “I’m sorry, who are you?”

    1. You have got to be kidding me! Debbie is a bitch and someone needs to stomp her face…I’m sure Ashley would get a kick out of it. Being in Ohio has definitely changed Spencer’s personality, she’s no longer sweet and innocent, but now bitchy and sarcastic especially to Ashley…What the hell is going on? I guess it’s time to fasten our seat belts and hold on tight because the roller coaster ride of drama is headed our way. You definitely know how to hold our attention…great writing! PMS
