Bette: “OkayI think I just may be able to survive the days ahead.”



Tina: “You
better, Elizabeth Porter. You need to make it for the surprise I
have in store for youthe question is, will you be able to handle it?”



Bette: “Ooooh, love the sound of that! And just so you know, you aren’t the only one with a surprise.”



Tina (intrigued): “Hmmm.well tell me!”



Bette (coyly): “Tell you what sweetie?”



Tina: “The surprise! What is it?”



Bette (laughing softly): “If I tell you, it wouldn’t be a surprise baby!”



Tina: “I’m the one pouting now Bette”



Bette (chuckling): “SO not going to work, T.”



Tina: “I’ve got my puppy dog eyes”



Bette: “Not going to get me to spoil it, baby.”



Tina: “I’m missing you so much babe”



Bette: “Give it up, T!”



Tina (smiling): “Give it up?”



Bette (pretending to sound exasperated): “Yes!”



Tina: “If
you say soI’m missing you.like crazy.now taking off my bathrobe and
I’m completely naked.settling into bednow I’m now going to”



Bette (cutting
Tina off): “Alrighty! When I said ‘give it up’ (clearing her
throat) I think you misunderstood what I meant!”



Tina (laughing): “Damnalmost had you!”



Bette (laughing): “You had me at bathrobe, baby.”



Tina: “I know. I’ll call you tomorrow morning babe.”



Bette: “Can’t wait, T. It’s how each morning should begin.”



Tina: “Love you baby. Bye.”



Bette: “Love you too T.”



Bette gently
placed the phone back on the charger. She caught her reflection
from the dresser mirror and saw the goofiest smile on her face.
‘This is what you do to me, Tina Kennard.’



Miles away,
Tina was experiencing that same ‘botox smile’ as she began snuggling
into her pillow. She couldn’t wait to be back in West Hollywood,
specifically back in the arms of one very lovely Bette Porter. ‘I
am so lucky’ Tina thought, as she drifted off to dream some very sweet
dreams of Bette Porter.



so the sun
rose and set many times in West Hollywood and Friday had finally
arrived. Bette couldn’t wait to have Tina back where she
belonged, in her arms. Everything seemed set for Tina’s “welcome
home surprise.”



Bette happily gathered her belongings and was heading out of the office with a smile on her face.



Jonathan: “Have a good weekend, boss!”



Bette (a huge smile on her face): “I will. You too!”



When Bette
arrived at her house she found Alice, Dana and Shane waiting on her
doorstep. Things had been going smoothly all day and they continued
that waybut not for long.



Shane (waving): “Hey Bette!”



Dana: “Hi Bette.”



Alice: “Well hello Porter!”



Bette (makes
her way to them): “Hi guys! Thanks for meeting me so
punctually. (Opening the front door) Ready to get the place set
up?”



Shane: “Absolutely!”



Dana (fumbling with decorations): “Where should I put these, Bette?”



Bette (setting down her keys and brief case): “How about on the coffee table for now?”



Dana (making her way there): “Okay.”



Alice (excitedly): “Let’s get this coming out party started!”



Bette: “I hope
Tina has a good time. She needs to unwind after the two weeks
she’s had dealing with work problems at that New Mexico shoot.”



Alice: “Bettedo not doubt our ability to throw one ***** of a party!”



Bette: You’re right. T will feel right at home at our small gathering



Alice (gulping hard): Ersmall?



Bette (putting
her arm around Alice’s shoulder): “Yep. Just the gangyou
know, supporting her big decision to play for the other team.”



Alice (eyes wide and barely managing to squeak out her words): “Just the gang?”



Bette (taking her arm off of Alice’s shoulder): “Should I be concerned that you have apparently transformed into a parrot?”



Alice (unable to stop): “Parrot?”



Shane (slapping Alice on the arm): “What the ***** is up with you?”



Dana (looking
at Bette and holding up her hands innocently): “I had nothing to do
with whatever the ***** she is about to say, Bette!”



Bette (glaring at Alice): “Alice?”



Alice (wiping a bead of perspiration forming on her temple): “Well, I”



Bette (staring intently): “Yes?”



Alice: “You see Iuminvited a couple of others”



Bette: “Oh. Well, how many others are we talking about?”



Alice (trying really hard to force a smile on her face): “Um…you knowmaybe four”



Bette (sighing in relief): “I think T can handle four extra people, Al!”



Alice (grimacing as she corrects Bette): “Uhwhat I was trying to say was FourFour-tyForty.”



Bette (shocked): “What?”



Shane (holding her head in her hands): “*****!”



Dana (moving out of the line of fire and clarifying): “Like I said, nothing to do with this.”



[Cue the doorbell]



Shane (moving toward the door): “UhI’ll get that”



Dane (running after Shane): “I’ll help McCutcheon”



Bette: “Alice!”



Alice: “Bette!”



Bette: “What have you done?”



Alice
(shrugging): “You said you wanted to throw the woman a coming out
party! I was just doing what you saidyou knowletting WeHo know
that Tina is coming out!”



Bette (closing her eyes and taking a deep breath): “Okaywhat exactlyhave you planned?”



Alice: “Well”



Shane (walking in with two gorgeous women): “UmDJ TBS and her assistant BVH are here.”



DJ TBS: “Hi!”



BVH: “Where do you want us to set up?”



Bette (looking at the guests and then glaring at Alice): “***** Alice!”



Dana (to TBS/BVH): “Uhshe always shouts that out when she’s ecstatic.”



Shane (steering the two out to the pool area): “Why don’t you two set up here?”



TBS/BVH (moving their equipment to a corner): “Cool.”



Dana and Shane walk back into Bette and Alice’s conversation



Bette: “Please tell me exactly what is happening tonight, Alice!”



Alice (nervously): “Uhwell, I do have a bartender on the way”



Bette (grinding her teeth together): “And?”



Alice (looking
to Shane and Dana for help and realizing she’s on her own): “Umthat’s
it. Just a bunch of people having a good time, Bette. You
know, some music, some drinksfun.”



Bette (sternly): “That’s it?”



Alice (gulping): “Just a good time for all.”



Bette (shaking
her head): “Damn Alice! I don’t know why in the ***** you did
this. (Taking a deep breath and looking at Alice) I guess it is too
late now to undo what you have done so let’s finish setting the place
up for the party. You just better pray that Tina doesn’t turn tail and
run when she sees all the people.”



[Two hours later the house was set up and all the guests had filtered in and Bette was anxiously waiting to hear from Tina]



Bette (seeing Tina’s name come up on her cell phone, she announces to the crowd): “Tina’s on the phone!”



The place quickly quieted down, as Bette made her way into her bedroom to take the call.



Bette: “Hi baby!”



Tina: “Bette! I’m so happy to be home”



Bette: “You’re not home just yet.”



Tina: “I’m already driving through WeHoin approximately (checking her watch) fifteen minutes I will be at your doorstep.”



Bette: “Babyyou’re not home until you’re in my arms.”



Tina (letting out an exaggerated sigh): “There you go sweet talking me again.”



Bette: “You don’t like it?”



Tina: “No.”



Bette (hurt): “Oh”



Tina (hearing the disappointment in Bette’s voice): “I don’t like it, I LOVE IT!”



Bette: “You’re such a tease, T.”



Tina: “I am not! Believe me, you won’t be calling me a tease”



Bette (laughing softly): “Promises, promises.”



Tina (softly):
“Oh it’s a promise, Bette Porter! (glancing at her watch)
We’re down to about 13 minutes and I’m home.”



Bette (realizing she better get everyone in their places): “Okay baby. Can’t wait! I’ve missed you like crazy!”



Tina (smiling): “I know babe. Love you!”



Bette quickly
went out to get the news out that Tina would be there any minute.
The place was dimmed and everyone quieted down and found their
spot. Soon Tina’s car could be heard pulling into the driveway.



Bette (running out to greet Tina who just stepped out of her car): “Hi baby!”



Tina (hugging Bette tightly): “God it’s good to be home.”



Bette (right before placing a kiss on Tina’s lips): “So good.”



Tina: (deepening the kiss) “Mmmmso very good.”



Bette: “I’ve missed you so much. Big surprises are in store for you.”



Tina: “Yeah? Well, I’m not the only one.”



Bette (kissing
Tina softly again): “Oh yeah? Well we better get inside for some
surprises then. You are planning on staying the night aren’t you?”



Tina (smiling): “No place I would rather be.”



Bette (beginning to move to the trunk of the car): “Should I grab your bags?”



Tina (pulling Bette into an embrace): “Bags come later(kissing her passionately) You come first.”



Bette (loving the feeling of having Tina back in her arms and kissing her): “Let’s get you inside, T.”



Tina (pouting): “Don’t want a peek at your surprise?”



Bette: “I see ityou are my surprise. Finally you’re here!”



Tina
(whispering in Bette’s ear while unbuttoning her jacket): “Umyou’re
right it is me Bette (opening her jacket to reveal her black laced
lingerie)in this”



Bette (her eyes
are nearly popping out of her head): “Jesus T! (she begins to
cover Tina’s assets with the coat and button it shut) You’re
practically naked!”



Tina (softly laughing): “Yes baby. That’s kind of the point of lingerie”



Bette (flustered and looking toward the house to make sure nobody is looking): “Noit’s just”



[Back in the Porter residence, the trio had been looking out the window watching Bette and Tina]



Alice: “Wow! When Tina wants to come outshe really wants to go all out!”



Shane: “You’re a pervert!”



Alice: (acting indignant): “Like you weren’t looking at those mighty fine Kennard cantaloupes!”



Dana (smiling): “I was.”



Shane (shaking her head): “You’re both sick.”



[Back outside with our lovely couple]



Bette (buttoning Tina up in a panic): “Jesus T! Oh God! God T!”



Tina (laughing): “You are really feeling religious babe”



Bette (wrapping her arms tightly around Tina): “We’re out in public!”



Tina (giggling): “Suddenly my baby is shy?”



Bette: “No, it’s not that T”



Tina (looking hurt): “Bettedo you not want this?”



Bette (seeing the pain in Tina’s eyes): “No, T. I dojust not”



Tina (confused and upset): “Just not what?”



Bette
(frustrated in having to keep the surprisefrustrated that her house
was full of people and in that moment she just wanted to have Tina all
to herself): “Just not now baby. Believe me I do want this but I have a
surprise for you inside”



Tina (puzzled): “Okay”



Bette (stroking
Tina’s hair): “BabyI want you, always. If you only knew how
badly I want you this second (pausing as she reached out and ran her
thumb over Tina’s lower lip) but first a surprise awaits you inside.”



Tina (thinking
maybe she had spoiled Bette’s plans): “Okay, Bette. We’ll take a
peek at your surprise first. But just so you know, all that I’ll
ever want is right here outside.”



Bette (kissing her one last time): “Me too, babynow let’s get you inside.”
