Love && Basketball – Part 7
Date Part 2
By now it was dark and Carmen had know idea where in the hell Shane was taking her. And no matter how many times Carmen asked Shane would just shrug her shoulders and smile. Then Shane turned off into a small dirt road leading into the woods, Carmen was starting to get really curious now. Then a small clearing showed through the trees. They had gotten to the top and Shane stopped the car, and grabbed a large blanket from the back seat, and got out of the car.
" Hold on " Shane asked, then ran around to the other side to open Carmen’s door. Carmen thanked her and got out, then Shane put her hands over her eyes from behind her and kicked the door closed with her leg.
" Shane I can’t see anything " Carmen whinned
" I know but I want you to be suprised "
Shane led Carmen over to a huge jutted out rock from the cliff. They walked out to the end and Shane pulled her hands away from Carmen. Carmen stared at the beautiful view of the city in pure amazment. The first thing below them was the ocean, you could still hear the waves crashing on the shore, then you could see the city lights from farther away. And to top it all off they had a completely clear night you could see every star in the sky.
" Shane, how did you ever find this place ? "
" Sit down and I’ll tell you "
Shane then unfolded the blanket and spread it out so they could sit on it. That sat in silence for a moment then Shane spoke up.
" I found this place after I was emancipated from my parents. They never did want me, I was just a mistake to them … a result of their drunkness … nothing more … "
" So, I took half their money and ran as far as I could. And eventually I reached LA in my car. But halfway to the city my car broke down in the middle of the night. I saw the small clearing back there so I decided to walk up here to see if anyone lived around here that could give me a hand with my car. I didn’t find anyone, but I found this … the most incredible view of LA. I ended up sitting here all night, just listening to the ocean, looking at the city lights, and thinking. "
