Crazy On You
Crazy On You
Bette awoke one sunny and bright morning to see the light shining in through her dorm room window. Today she would be getting a dorm mate and quite frankly she was a little nervous. She got up and made her bed, looking around her room for the seven hundredth time in the past 72 hours to make sure everything looked perfect. She had no idea who the girl who was going to share her dorm with her was. And right now she wanted to know really badly, but on the other hand, wished it could just be her. Bette ran her hands feverishly through her hair and went to the bathroom to shower. It was her second year of university at UCLA and her timetable was packed. Every art class and every business class that was available, she was taking. She felt swamped and yet she felt like she could be doing more. Anything to make my dad proud of me…She thought to herself. Her sister had long since given up any dream of going to university. She wasn’t the woman for it, her life consisted of music and drinking. That was it. Bette remembered when her father kicked Kit out. It was the saddest day of her life, even though her sister did have those horrible habits she still loved Kit dearly. She didn’t even know where Kit was and she worried.
As Bette got out of the shower she still thought of her sister. And how it would be amazing just to see her for a little while instead of lost phone calls and letters. Bette dressed in her blue jeans and tank top. She looked in the mirror as she pulled her hair back into a loose ponytail and smiled when she noted that she looked really good today. She didn’t even need make up. Someone knocked at the door and butterflies became violent in the pit of her stomach.
“OPEN THE DAMN DOOR PORTER!! IS THIS THE WAY YOU TREAT YOUR NEW ROOMIE!!” Alice yelled. Bette laughed out loud and went to unlock the door. Alice opened the door and bounded up to Bette throwing her arms around her neck.
“I thought you weren’t coming to UCLA Al.” Bette smiled and she hugged her best friend closely.
