    Author Notes:

    Shane is in a dilemma and revisits the past.

    Dana continued to lie in bed with her eyes closed.  She had been in a coma for nearly a week.  Though she was stable, her health had not progressed.  Alice continued to stay by Dana’s side and was currently sleeping in her chair.  Shane sat in a chair in the corner of the room staring at her two friends.  Shane knew Alice loved Dana with all of her heart, simply because Alice had refused to leave the hospital and had only left Dana’s room one or twice in the past week.  But the more Shane stared at them, the more she realized Alice was there as a friend too.  Shane knew if it were her lying in the bed in a coma instead of Dana, Alice would still be asleep in the chair, holding her hand, and spending everyday at the hospital because that’s just the type of friend Alice was. 

     

    A smile crept across Shane’s face, thankful for the friends she has, especially Alice and Dana.  They could both get on her nerves, especially the way they both would over exaggerate and worry for no reason, but they both would also be there in an instant if Shane needed them.  Shane lost her family years ago and never felt like she had a family until she joined the circle of friends and the thought of losing a member of her new family scared the hell out of her. 

     

    Shane looked down at her lap and stared at the folder that laid there.  She didn’t want to open the folder, scared of what might be in it, yet more scared of why she had to open it.  Shane closed her eyes and thought about the day she received the folder.

    2 Months Earlier:

    Shane walked up to Dana’s condo, rang the bell and waited for her to answer.

    “Hey…a…Shane.  Come on in.”  Dana said nervously as she opened the door.  Shane walked in and sat on the couch as Dana followed in behind her and sat down next to her.

    “Alright, what’s up Dana?”  Shane asked looking at Dana.

    “Huh.  Nothing’s up.  Why would something be up?”  Dana asked while fidgeting with the hem of her shirt.

    “Come on Dane.  It’s Yoda you are talking to.  You have been nervous since you called and asked me to come over.  So just spill already.”  Shane said smiling at her friend.

    1. Boy oh boy, I don’t even know what to say. Heavy duty overtime!! You had the flashback worked very well into the story. I feel for A & S because they had to make a life and death decision. I can’t wait to see what D had written in the folder. Thank you for another great update and looking forward to your next.

    2. I like this extra layer to it. Hopefully Shane will make the right decision. And the story does stress me out, but in a good way. Glad you’re writing it, I tried to cover this topic in mine but messed it up royally. Oh well.

    3. WOW!! I wouldn’t wanna be in Shane or Alice’s position. That’s a lot of responsibility to take on but I know Shane will make the right choice. This is good stuff please post soon.

    4. honestly I did not read this until this update, because the teaser said Shane, but I am so glad I did..your story is amazing. It really brings you back to how the three of them were. And obviously I love how you write for Shane :)
