You Can Always Remember What You Can;t Forget (Chap 3)

It was 8 am before the hospital was able to get in ouch with Bob Jones’ wife. She came to the hospital where she got the devastating news that her husband of 15 years had been killed in a car accident.  She wasn’t even paying attention when the doctor asked her to look at this woman to see if she knew her name.

"She was in the car the car with your husband at the time of the crash."

If she had been paying attention she would have known that her name was Tina Kennard and she worked with her husband, but instead she simply said she couldn’t help and left the hospital to begin the process of burying her husband.

Bette was awoken by Angie around 7am.

"Mama, why are you sleeping next to my bed"

"Oh I must have fallen asleep in here baby"

"Where’s mama T?" Angie’s little curious eyes were piercing Bette’s heart.

"She went into work early today, but you will see her later" Bette lied

Bette walked out to the living room where bodies were sleeping everywhere. Kit was on the chair- Bette didn’t even realize she came over. Alice and Tasha were huddled on the couch and Shane was sitting on the back deck smoking a cigarette.

"What am I supposed to do Shane?" Bette begged

"Well it’s almost 24 hours so you can call the police again."

"I just wanna find her- it’s been 24 hours but I feel like I haven’t seen her in months"

    Meanwhile:

"How does no one know who I am??"

"Ms. Doe, we are trying. We are trying to figure out how you knew the man who was driving the car. His wife was in here earlier but she said she didn’t know you."

Tina’s heart hurt- she knew she was missing someone and something somewhere she just couldn’t remember.

Bette flew up as she heard the phone ring.

    "Tina? Tina? Is that you?"

Everyone woke up and was watching Bette to see if that was Tina calling

"Um no Bette it’s Jane. I promised I’d call first thing"
