    Bette gets the offer of a lifetime.

    Bette waited as the man took out a legal note pad and cleared his throat before he began reading her the conditions of her possible employment.

    "Well, for starters Bette, I don’t see why you’d need to be here every day. I have people that are here that maintain the office and so you can run if from your bathroom for all I care. You know what you are doing, you know how to do it and I have total faith in you. You can hire up to three workers, I have the conditions of their employment for people to work under you – again, I won’t get in the way, you are by far more qualified to run this gallery than I am."

     

    Bette smiled widely and waited for him to continue.

    "Like I said, I have some of my own staff. You will be in charge of them as well. I have an assistant director here. Highly qualified."

     

    Bette simply nodded.

     

    "So I guess that brings us to salary. Bette, what was your highest paying job in the art world? How much did you make?"

     

    "O, Ed, I um…I’m not sure. Maybe averaged somewhere about $85,000 a year…" Bette honestly answered.

     

    "I see. Well, I wouldn’t be able to pay you that, Bette. However, I listed the terms that you would be getting about $150,000 a year plus bonuses and obviously commission from selling pieces at shows and what not. You’ll get 30% of all show proceeds and a bonus of 40% the total earnings if the show sells out completely. Does that work for you, Bette?" Ed asked as her was amused by Bette’s contorted expression.

     

    Bette took a moment to catch her breath. She wasn’t sure if she heard what the man said correctly. Ed simply smiled until Bette finally spoke."Let me make sure I understand you correctly, Ed. I get my own hours, I can hire my own people, well up to three, and you want to pay me six figures to run your gallery?"

     

    "In a sense, yes." The man confirmed.

     

    "What’s the catch?" Bette asked nervously.

     

    "Bette, c’mon…if there were two galleries that had you up for a bidding war, you honestly don’t think you’d get below what I’m offering you?  I need to make sure I can keep you. You’ll make me lots of money and I only want to be fair," he said honestly.

    8. Thank you for the great storytelling. Delighted that Bette gets a break workwise. First she is fired by the CAC after bringing them the biggest show ever. Then she had to endure Jodie’s slanderous and vicious show and on top of that she had to leave CU because of Jodie and Nadia.

    13. Well, we know that nadia is a fool for thinking Tina is replaceable. She does not know that Tina will clean her clock for going after Bette. I hope Ed will tell Bette he was just kidding and her salary is so much higher than what he told hwe initially because she has already made that salary as the head od the CAC, and more when she owned her own gallery. I thought he would offer her at least one half to one million dollars, then I would have shit my pants but not for a $150K, she’s alrady made that in the past. Ed did not do very good research, our girl is worth so much more. Thanks for posting.

    19. oh my god!! Angie close your eyes!! As for Nadia, yes she every word that pertains to one of the oldest professions in the world. But B &T are stronger than all of the skank whores combined  thank you! 
