The Planet Pax – Chapter Two
——–
Today, it was national holiday. First, the ruler: Titus Kennard, The Mistress: Faye Buckley-Kennard and their kids: Lisa, Amanda, Linda, Julia, Joshua, Micah, Luca, Noah and Tina would ride around Hemera. It would be one big festival. After that, they would travel over the Chaos Sea to Nyx.
When they walked through Hermera the people didn’t have to bow for the High Family but the Nox had to fall on their knees if the family passed. Linda, Julia, Micah, Noah and Tina found it awful. They knew they thought the same about the situation but they didn’t voice it. They never voiced any thoughts that were against the Pax-law. Amanda, Joshua and Luca were the only ones who actually liked it.
Bette hated this day. She always made she was somewhere in the forest and that no one would notice she was gone. She wasn’t going to bow for the people that paid the men and women who hit her father and sister in the mines. She had more pride than that.
However, today, she couldn’t get away. Luther loved to see the parade, he didn’t understand why it was, and Bette had promised to take him. So, now, they were waiting for the people to come by. She could see the light coming from miles away, which was another thing she didn’t like: bright light. She was only used to a little candle light or soft lamps but the parade was blinding her eyes that were designed to live in the twilight. She saw people getting on their knees but she just couldn’t get herself to do that. Luther also went on his knees and looked at his sister, silently asking why she didn’t do that. Bette looked away and waited for the parade to pass. The wagons came closer and loud music was heard. When the mistress noticed that Bette was the only one standing on her feet she stopped every movement and stilled the music.
“You! Why aren’t you on your knees for me?” Faye asked. Tina looked at the brown haired girl that was standing in the middle of the crowed. Her eyes widened and her breath hitched. She was so beautiful…
“I don’t bow for abusers and slave drivers.” Bette spoke loud and clear. Luther looked scared; he didn’t want his sister in danger.
