(Previously) Bette finally looked up and replied with sadness, “I love her more than anything too but she should’ve told me the truth and give me a chance to make the decision. Whether I was right or wrong, it was still my choice and my decision to make.”
“I’m sure Tina knows it and she totally regrets what we did…I do,” Alice moved closer and put her arm around Bette’s shoulders. “What are you going to do, Bette?”
“I don’t know yet, Alice,” Bette finished her wine and put the glass on the coffee table. “I’m going to stay at the hotel tonight. I need to be alone to think. If Tina calls, tell her that I’m fine but I need some time, okay?”
Bette got up and Alice stood up as well, giving Bette a big hug, “Okay.” She hesitated but said it anyway, “Whatever you decide to do, Bette, just be sure that’s this is what you really want. Okay?”
Bette smiled and returned the hug, “Okay.”

Chapter 57: Loving you or leaving you (Bette makes her decision)
Place: Los Angeles, CA
Year: April 18, 2006 – Tuesday night
Tina and Bette’s House
Tina spent a restless night, waiting for Bette to come home or for Shane to call with some news. Finally, she got a call from Alice who told her about Bette’s visit.
“Did she say which hotel?” Tina asked, desperately wanting to go to her lover and try to makes things right.
“Sorry, Tina, she didn’t say,” Alice sighed. “She needed to be alone and I think you should let her deal with this situation on her own for now. Bette has a very analytical mind. She needs to go over everything without distraction to make a decision.”
“Are you saying that I’m a distraction right now?” Tina asked without rancor. Alice was just a messenger.
“Bette’s decision will affect you both so yes, at this time you are a distraction,” Alice replied gently.
“Okay,” Tina nodded. “If you hear from her again, tell her I love her…always and forever.”
She ended the call and got up to make coffee, knowing that sleep will never come.
