All Alone – (Chapter: Perfection can sometimes hurt)

“I love you Spencer,” she stated before driving off and leaving me to my own thoughts.

I walked into my house floating, believing nothing could bring me down, but nothing could bring me down now. Ashley Davies just said she loved me. Ok, so she probably meant a friend love, but I’ll take it. At least this means she’s going to stick around.

But the high didn’t last long.

    “I can’t believe you Arthur!”

“Me, how can you not believe it,” my dad yelled back. “you’re so god damn busy with work all the time I needed someone to keep me company.”

“She’s your secretary. You’re fucken secretary you pig!” I’ve never heard my mom this mad before. Usually she just sounds worn out and tired.

“We fell in in love,” my dad stated.

“You fell for lust!” I sat frozen on the steps. Did they know I was here?

“Either way I want a divorce. Half of everything belongs to me,” my dad ranted. “You can keep the house, I just want the car and Glen. Spencer’s all yours!” I subconsciously wiped away a tear I didn’t even know I was shedding. I knew this whole divorce was inevitable, but I never imagined he’d want to leave me behind. Naturally I reached for the bandage covering my arm and started playing with it.

“I can’t even deal with you right now. File the divorce. We’ll talk about everything else later. But for now I’m done with this conversation, and I’m done with you.” Her fatigue is now starting to show through her anger. It was bound to come out. “Besides I have to go to work.”

“That’s right go to work. And you wonder why I’m leaving,” my so called father spat. “I’m getting my stuff and leaving. If you can find the time, feel free to tell Glen and Spencer.”

“Goodbye Arthur,” my mom stormed out of the house. I could hear my fathers foot steps getting closer so I retreated to my bathroom and locked the door. It’s no like he’d even care if I heard anyways. He’s getting as far as he can away from me. Oh god he doesn’t love me. The silent tears fell as I reached into a drawer and pulled out my only friend…
