“It’s ok. I’m lost in this place anyways. My last school was so much smaller.”

“You’re new?”

“Well, my cousin was hurt pretty badly in the shooting. So my mom brought me out here, so she could help her sister out. And it looks like I’m staying.”

“I’m sorry about your cousin…By the way, I’m Spencer.”

“Amanda.” She said, reaching out to shake my hand. Her hand was in mine for a second too long, like she didn’t want to let go.

“So Amanda, where are you headed?”

“Um…” she said, looking through a stack of papers. “Room 113? I think it’s U.S. History or something…”

“Well, it’s your lucky day. I just so happen to be heading to that class. I’ll show you the way.”

She smiled at me and I began to admire her features. She had dark black hair, with bangs. Her eyes were dark blue, and looked stunning on her face. She was shorter than me, but I could tell she had a nice body.

When we reached the classroom, we sat next to eachother. During the whole hour, we exchanged glances at eachother, looking away right when our eyes locked. Finally the bell rang, and it was the last hour of the day: Study hall, which surprisingly, Amanda had too.

“So, are you my stalker or something?” I asked jokingly.

“Very funny Spencer. But I actually wouldn’t mind stalking someone as hot as you are.”

My face flushed and I could feel heat rising through me. “Why Amanda, did you call me hot?”

“Maybe I did. And maybe I was just kidding.”

I gave her a playful smack on the arm as we headed towards study hall.

I had no homework to do, so when I sat down, I took out my iPod and listened to music. Halfway through the hour, I realized Amanda was furiously scribbling something down on a pad of paper. I took the headphones out of my ear and watched her.

“Jeez, you must have tons of homework.” I said.

Her face became completely red as she hugged the pad of paper to her chest, hiding it from me.

“What is that Amanda?” I asked, playfully grabbing it from her.

“Stop Spencer!” she said laughing.

“No I want to see-.” With one final tug, I grabbed the pad from her. It turned out to be a sketch pad, and on it, was a picture of me. And it was perfect.

“Oh my god Amanda, you are an amazing artist.”

“You’re not mad?”

“Why would I be mad? You are great at this, and obviously, I made a good impression on you for you to draw me like that.”

“Well, yeah, I guess.” She said blushing. And that’s when it hit me. This is the perfect thing to mend my broken heart. I like this girl. She’s cute, smart, funny, which is pretty much everything I want. I decided I needed to make the first move.

“Well, if you want to Amanda, I’ll pose for you sometime.” I said with a wink.

“I would love that. My place after school?”

“Perfect.”
