Alternate Ending Contest- Bella's Choice
"No. When it comes to your safety, it's absolutely not funny." He agreed. His mouth pressed into a hard line as he said the next words. "Hence, why I refuse to change you." It was an uncomfortable stalemate. We stared, unsmiling into each other's eyes.
"I bet Alice would. Or Carlisle." I spoke up quietly. The change in his eyes became really obvious, almost frightening. Pure anger boiled up and turned his golden eyes black in anger. For half a second, I feared he'd lost control and that I was in danger.
"They wouldn't dare." Was all he said. He glared at me, but I refused to be deterred. He rolled his eyes, easing the tension a little. "So eager for eternal damnation." He muttered but a smile played on his lips. I half-smiled too. He reached out his arms for mine, and we started dancing slowly again, to invisible music. He hummed something which was either Claire de Lune or my lullaby. We danced slowly around and around, and I gripped his cold hand to stop me from falling. I hated dancing with a passion, but with him I felt safe. It didn't mean I liked dancing any better though. This was what I wanted. To feel Edward's arms wrap around me, forever. Not for a week, nor a year or even a lifetime but forever.
"What are you thinking about? It still kills me, not being able to know." Edward murmured in my ear, and a rush of pleasure ran down my spine like an electric current. Every touch, every breath we shared was more thrilling than any theme park ride in the world.
"I'm just thinking about us," I confessed. As if I could be thinking of anything else! "And about the definitions of lifetime and forever." His look became thoughtful as he kissed my forehead. We kept on dancing, even whilst talking, both of us remembering this moment forever. He spun me around slowly and I met his gaze as I leaned in towards him. I couldn't believe that fortune smiled down on me so much that this gorgeous, godlike figure was mine. It was with a heavy heart, that I realised I couldn't walk away from him. Any future that involved him, I would take.
