    Advice is sought after

     

     

    The captain came over the intercom, “Ladies and gentlemen please stay seated with your seatbelts fastened as we have reached the O’Hare airport in Chicago, Illinois. The current time is 4pm central time and the temperature is about 93 degrees. Welcome to Chicago, have a nice visit and we will see you on your way back to LA here on Flight 161. Thank you it has been my pleasure flying with you today”. Spencer rubbed her eyes and realized that she had been dreaming, a dream of the plane fixing to crash. She was unsteady for a few minutes then she got her stuff together and left the plane.

                    In the waiting area sat a young lady excited to see her cousin again, one she had not seen since in several years. She was a tall, brunette with the prettiest smile in the Mideast.  Her name was Brooke, she wanted Spencer to hang out with her and go to all the cool places with all her cool friends. Spencer was about two years her senior and Brooke always wanted her approval when they were young playing at the park. So why should Brooke change after all these years?

                    Spencer walked out into the lobby and Brooke almost fainted. The last time she had seen Spencer she was like twelve years old. Now Spencer was a grown beautiful woman, not that Brooke was not but she always felt that she was not pretty enough for most around.

                    “Well, Spencer Carlin it has been way too long between visits, how about give me a hug cuz” Brooke stated and leaned in to hold Spencer tight.

                    Spencer did not know what to think; Brooke had grown into a beautiful woman and was glad that she recognized her because she knew that she was not feeling herself today.

                    “Yes it has been too long Brooke, how have you been lately?” Spencer asked.

                    “Alright except for mom not feeling herself, Spencer I think your visit will do more good than you know for mom” Brooke responded.

                    Spencer was not certain why Brooke said that, but she knew she needed to talk to Rose about the feelings that she had been having, like before. However, now the feelings were too strong to control and that is why she was glad to leave, she just wasn’t sure how Ashley would react.

                    The two got into Brooke’s Mustang and was off down the road out to the farm where their home was. The road was now paved and not as bumpy, Brooke talked about how her mom was wanting to see Spencer, and how she fell and then they found the cancer in her lungs. She had started crying but as always, Spencer held Brooke’s hand as she told the story about Rose falling from the ladder that day and not being able to walk again.

                    “I am sorry that I was not here during that time Brooke, but LA is so far away. I have missed you so much, how is Uncle Jack or have you seen him since he left” Spencer asked her cousin.

                    Brooke parked the car and got right out ignoring the question to get Spencer’s bags out of the trunk.

                    The two cousins went inside the house and the bags were taken upstairs and Spencer sat in with Rose and they talked for hours, about everything. Brooke went to bed but Spencer stayed up all night waiting to get the chance of talking to Rose about Ashley and the feelings she has for her.

                    Spencer explained that Ashley and she were best friends and had been for a few years, but the last year Spencer started having intimate feelings for Ashley. She told Rose she was afraid of how Ashley might be turned off by the confrontation. She was also worried about how her parents would react to her having feelings for a girl. The only thing is that Ashley was no ordinary girl; she was a woman that Spencer loved deeply but did not know how to go about telling her so.

                    Rose listened and absorbed all the information that Spencer told her. She knew that her neice was having a hard time with these issues, because these are issues she has had to deal with herself. Spencer knowing this wanted Rose’s help with the details.
