    Anniversary

I ended up passing out on the couch. I couldn’t sleep in that bed tonight.

    Our bed.

It was supposed to be our anniversary.

    And she wasn’t here.

Why would I sleep there and upset myself even more?

I felt a warm arm wrap around me and a body snuggle up to my back.

“Happy anniversary baby.” she said and kissed my neck.

I pretended I was asleep. I couldn’t deal with her right now.

She didn’t leave. I don’t know what time it was, but it was dark. I got off the couch and she woke up.

“hey” she whispered, with the raspy voice I loved.

“hey” was all I could say back.

    “happy 5 years baby.”

    “yeah, happy anniversary”

“why are you up?. And why were you on the couch?” she asked.

“where have you been?” I shot back.

“I tried to call you, every night. but your phone’s been off. Ethan called me and told me I had to do some press in NY for the new CD. It was last minute and I had to get on a plane. I‘m supposed to still be there but I couldn’t miss our anniversary. I‘m sorry. but I do have something for you.”

That softened me up a bit, damn her and her cuteness. “Ash, you didn’t have to get me anything. And I haven’t been paying attention to my phone. Actually, I don’t know where it is come to think of it.”

“Well we can look for it later,”

she pulled out a box out of her back pocket. Jewelry, typical ’I’m sorry’ gift,

“I know, it‘s so typical, but I saw it on the way to some stupid last minute press conference and I couldn’t help it, it screamed your name.”

It was a necklace with a sapphire on the end, and on it was also a claddagh ring.

“okay, I lied, I got two things, but it could be one,”

“I‘m still kinda mad at you for ditching, and I understand why you did, but I‘m still upset. But I love this, and I‘m gonna wear it every day. Thank you.” I moved to give her a kiss.

“now what should we do?” she looked at me and winked with a smile. She always knew how to diffuse my anger.

“Gosh, Davies, you are such a nympho. But you know I love it.”

We walked over to our room, hand in hand.

    Argument was over, for now.
