Spencer wedged the phone in between her ear and shoulder and tried not to drop the folder she was carrying.
“I wish” she murmured into the mouthpiece, frowning at the pages in front of her. “But, no, I have to go. I’ve turned them down for every invitation they’ve thrown at me in the last few weeks, I really couldn’t say no to this one.”
“Alright, but you leave as soon as you want to. Don’t go letting them upset you.” Ashley’s voice cautioned from the other end of the line.
“Inevitable. They’re my parents.” Spencer sighed. “It’ll be ok. I hope. Dad’s cool and Mom… Mom will get over it eventually.” She frowned again. “I hope.”
“Still planning on tonight?” Ashley asked.
“Yeah” Spencer bit her lip. “I have to tell her Ash. It’s been three weeks already. She hasn’t even asked me where he is. Even for Elly that’s weird. I know they’re not close but he’s never been gone for three weeks before. It’s time.”
“Ok. I’m still coming over at nine.”
“You don’t have to. I’ll be ok.” Spencer protested but her heart wasn’t in it. “Really.” So not in it. Telling Elly was petrifying her and she was grateful for the possibility of an outlet afterwards. At least her daughter should be asleep by nine.
“I’m coming. This is not in question.”
“Ok. I’ll see you at nine then. I gotta go, this paperwork is driving me bananas and I think I should get around to concentrating on it.”
“Bye Spence. Good luck yeah,” Ashley’s breathy voice made Spencer’s head spin. Once the phone was hung up, she couldn’t help but reflect on how much of a friend Ashley really had been lately. Supportive in all the right places, backing off when needed; giving just the right amount of physical contact to be comforting but never making Spencer feel like she was pushing for more.
Dammit she’s like the perfect woman. Why oh why can’t you just get lucky for once?
She frowned so much these days she swore permanent creases were going to appear on her forehead. The frowning continued while the paperwork got done.
Spencer decided to ease the topic to her daughter while they were having dinner. It was easier when she had a captive audience and anyway, if she got upset she at least had something to throw. Somehow Spencer didn’t think that Elly would throw anything but figured she had a right to if she wanted.

Oh boy! 1 step closer to happiness! But…this fic reminds me of how crappy the world can be sometimes. If Spencer considers getting together with Ash in the future, mom will flip, cause having two mothers in some freak-lesbo-orgy relat. with a young child is equivalent to having Charles Manson raise Elly. Let’s hope Paula gets it together, although from what we have seen and heard of her, she is a product of her mother, and thus the cycle of selfish intolerance continues. Elly is concern number one. And Spencer knows she must tread lightly when it comes to whom she considers for a partner. But, yay for Gray realizing what’s up. he was and is very unhappy also and I hope he can let the work slow down and meet someone he clicks with. I think, and hope, that in time he will realize how precious each moment with Elly is. Spence was so shocked on how easy the Gray part was! Now to see how paula reacts. I am curious to see how Spencer feels considering she is now not having to face some lame custody crap and such. An easy divorce and she is a free woman. I know this must terrify her because it is one less obstacle keeping her from Ash. Very scary for Spence. Very.
OOOMMMGGGG!!! WOW! Spencer standing up for herself against Grey. Nice job clomle!!! WHOO! Lol and nice job to ashley for being there when she was needed. I still feel bad for Elly because she is deaf…and her parents are divorcing. But still. Excellent chapter. PMS.

YES!!! I am sooo glad that they are going to tell Spencer’s mother that they are going to get a divorce!!!! I know that Ashley will be happy and excited that Spencer is not with Gary anymore!!!! PMS and GREAT UPDATE!!!!

Wheee! Updates! I wish EVERYBODY updated this frequently… :::shoots lightening bolt at bannerman with newfound goddess powers::: I, for one, am actually glad that Spencer and Gray had another conversation and that Paula pulled her little trick. It fits the characters perfectly and it would’ve just been too easy and to contrived if Gray just walked out and never came back. We all know Spashley loving will come eventually, so I’ll just sit back and enjoy until then. :D

YAY! ITS FINALLY OVER…..NOW WE GET GET MORE SPASHLEY TIME WITH NO GRAY INBETWEEN;) i LOVE THIS STORY. IT KEEPS GETTING MORE INTERESTING.PMS

ah, you just made a good moment even better – sun pouring in through the window, the smell of the sea on the air, a big load of cheesecake and custard, and a post from Clom! I’m treating myself – been working solidly for 3 days! I figure too that I deserve the cheesecake after all the time I spend working and exercising, lol. Cracking update, hopefully Spence will now feel completely at ease with going over to Ashley’s and having a repeat performance of their first night together ;-) and Goob, I am very sorry for being an irregular/shit poster – it’s down to my ridiuculously busy filming schedule at the moment! it’ll calm down… when, I don’t know, but I’m sure it will… well, I hope it will cos I’m exhausted!
