The sound of the brunette’s house phone woke both girl’s up from a peacefully and much needed sleep.

“Phone” Spencer mumbled into Ashley’s chest.

“Ugh fuck it.”

“But it could be important Ash”

“If it’s important they would just call my cell.” Ashley turned around to stare at the clock which read 1:13a.m. They had just fallen asleep about a half hour ago. “Who the hell calls at one o’clock in the morning?”

“I don’t know but will you just answer it.”

“Hello?” Ashley answer a little agitated.

“Ashley” A voice replied from the other end.

“Mr. C is that you?”

“Yea Ashley listen we’ve been trying to reach you guys for the past hour.”

Ashley was slightly confused as to why she and Spencer didn’t hear their cell phones ringing. Then she remembered that they were both downstairs.

“Sorry our cell phones are downstairs. What’s up?” the girl asked looking at her girlfriend was up anxiously waiting to find out what her father wanted.

“It’s Paula.”

“Is she okay?” Ashley asked concerned.

“We don’t know. I need you guys to come here. She went for a drive and hasn’t heard from her since.”

“Alright Mr C. we’ll leave right now.” With that she hung up and looked at the blonde who now had fear in her eyes.

“Where are we leaving to?”

“You dad wants us to go over. Your mom went out and hasn’t showed up.”

“Has she called? Where’d she go? How long-“

“Don’t worry Spence I’m sure she’s fine. Come on let’s go”

“Dad” Spencer called out as she opened the front door to her house.

“In here honey” Both girls walked into the living room to see Glen and Arthur sitting on the couch.

“What happened? Have you heard from mom?” the blonde asked petrified to think if something happened to her mother. Sure Paula was a bitch but she was still her mother.

“I don’t know, so me and Glen are gunna go search for her. Can you and Ashley stay her just in case she calls?”

“It’s no problem Mr.C”

“Sure dad.”

“Ok bye girls” He gave both Spencer and Ashley hugs.

“Bye Spence” Glen said following his father. “Ashley” he nodded closing the door leaving both girls alone.

“Ugh” Spencer groaned as she plopped onto the couch. “I’m exhausted.”

“Then go to sleep babe.” Ashley suggested as she sat next to her girlfriend. “I’ll stay up ‘til they get back.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah it’s fine. “The older girl said moving to the edge of the couch. Spencer laid the length of her body onto the couch and rested her head in Ashley’s lap.  

“I hope my mom’s ok.”

“She’s fine Spence. Your mom’s a smart woman who knows how to take care of herself.” Ashley reassured as she played with the blonde’s hair.

“You think so?”

“Yeah I honestly do. “

“Thank you” Spencer said I hugging the brunette’s stomach.

“Why are you thanking me for?”

“You always know how to make me feel better. All my mother does is criticize you, yet not one bad thing has ever left your mouth about her.”

“Baby it’s my job to make you feel better. As for your mother, she’s important to you and since she is, she’s important to me too.” Ashley said sincerely.

“I love you Ash”

“I know you do. I love you too. Now get some sleep okay.”

“Okay” Spencer whispered as she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. Where all her problems could float away and she could think of the one person she loved the most. Ashley.
