Cheer Me Up Thank You – (Chapter: 4)

"What about your business?" Kyla asked, suddenly concerned.

"My name." She looked relieved. "Both Aiden and I decided that when I first set it up. He didn’t really have anything to do with it, I used my money from Dad."

"Kyla there isn’t anything to worry about, it’s all settled," I say, trying to ease my sister’s mind. "I even got the cat… I mean you can’t say I didn’t get a good deal…"

I picked up the phone on its third ring.

"Hi mother," I say immediately. It had been ten minutes since Glen had originally called, and to be honest I thought my mom would be quicker.

"Spencer darling, you’ve spoken to Glen?" She sounded hyperactive. Then again, this was probably the most news she’d had for awhile. "Have you?"

"I spoke to him just before you rang mom."

"What did he say to you? I mean he told me that he and Lana were splitting up but I just don’t believe it! I just can’t! Lana is such a nice girl, and Glen would never hurt anyone…"

"Mom calm down a second," I said, slightly irritated. Why I had to be involved in this at all I had no idea. It wasn’t like she rang Clay regularly to find out about Glen or I. "From what Glen told me they are just having a little time apart, to clear their heads a little. Just wait it out a bit."

"I just can’t stand to think of Glen by himself," she continued. "I mean Clay has Chelsea and you, well you have your career dear… but Glen, poor Glen."

I had the sudden urge to vomit at my mom’s words but instead I chose to just finish the conversation.

"Mom I’m sorry but I have to go… work to do," I lied. "Wouldn’t want to jeopardize my career…"

"Of course dear, I understand," she replied, clearly not getting anything. "Make sure to check on Glen, ok? I worry about him."
