Circles and Circles – (Chapter: Remembrance of things passed (chap 11))

Spencer sat in her bedroom, watching the rain stream down her window, grumbling about the unusual weather for a California day. Where the hell had the sun gone? Come to think of it, where had the sun in her life gone? Ashley used to be her sun, and her moon, and her stars. She’d told her that once, and Ashley had responded with a single raised eyebrow, then had basically launched herself at Spencer, tickling until she had cried submission. Ashley had never been very good at the soppy stuff. Now Spencer felt like her world was tipping a bit, but she knew she could hold on. After all, she still had Ashley… didn’t she? She did. She had to be strong about this. Ashley was her girlfriend and she’d be damned if she’d let her go without a fight. She once told Ashley that she would take care of them both, and she had done so for two years. Sure they’d been rocky at times, and her family certainly hadn’t helped along, but they’d reached an uneasy truce on the subject, and things were ok. Ashley was allowed over for dinner. Her mother basically kept silent, both around Ash and on the topic of Ash, or, sometimes, any word beginning with A. Her father, with is usual diplomacy, was friendly, and tactful, and tried to get everyone to see both sides. Ash had been there through her parents separation, and then through their even harder reconciliation. Rules had been formed, and for the most part, kept (Spencer’s parents surely didn’t need to know about the few times Ashley had been sneaked into Spencer’s bedroom.. did they?).

So things had been ok. Until lately. Until Samantha. Spencer practically gagged at the name. God she hated the girl. She’d turned up at King a few months back, an Ashley had basically adopted her. At first, Spencer had been in agreement. I mean, if Ashley hadn’t adopted her, where would she be, and new girls need friends. If it hadn’t become so damned obvious that the bitch was after Ashley in every which way possible, Spencer might have even come to like her. Now THAT had caused endless arguments. Ashley refused to see it. She claimed that Samantha was only a friend, didn’t want to be anything more, and that Spencer needed to trust her. They’d been together for two years for Christ sake, surely there was some trust around. There had been a small explosive episode that had ended when Spencer had just simply walked out of Ashley’s house, unwilling to hear any more on the subject. But they’d made up. Spencer smiled warmly, remembering the make up, and her hand unconsciously went to her throat, the small red stoned pendant set in gold that Ashley had given her as apology. Ashley rarely bought things as an apology, Spencer had stamped that out early on. She pointed out that she refused to be bought, so when Ash did actually buy her something, it damn well meant something. Spencer fingered the stone, and leaned back, still watching the rain come down.

    1. wow!! I guess its just us night owls and fan fic. This just goes to show my addiction to your writing. Great read at 5:00am. I like that you are getting into the informative. There are many inquiring minds, but I have been satisfied with just the way it was. Imagination in a mutha. Good job.

    5. and another thing. The letter I think that Sam chick wrote the letter to make it seem like Ashley wrote it just so Spencer could find them and she would break up with her. So she can have Ash herself but I bet that didn’t work, Ash was probably to depresses or something, am I right . LOL
