Glen stood in front of them with his hands on his hips, his ice blue eyes were barely slits. Spencer stepped in front of Ashley protectively and started to explain to her brother but Glen didn’t want to hear it. His disgusted face said it all. No matter what Spencer would say, it wouldn’t be right in his eyes. She wouldn’t ever be right in his eyes.

“I’m telling Mom. She deserves to know this, after all she’s been through with you,” Glen spit out angrily. Spencer’s face looked stricken.

“No Glen, don’t! Please!” He looked at her and rolled his eyes.

“How can I not Spencer? You’re kissing a girl! That’s wrong and Mom should know what she’s paying for up there at school, God if Dad found out. I’m so ashamed of you right now! I can’t even look at you,” Spencer was near tears now and it was breaking Ashley’s heart. She gently put her hands on Spencer’s arms and moved her so she could step forward.

“Glen, it’s not your business to tell,” she said calmly.

“Fuck you whore! She’s my sister and she’s my business! I want what’s best for her, and that isn’t you, I know all about how you lived in California, even if Spencer were gay I wouldn’t want it to be with you,” He shot back at her. Ashley sucked in a breath and was about to retaliate when Spencer started to speak again.

“Don’t ever call her that Glen, she is far from a whore, I don’t care about her past! I care about her present, which is with me and her future which better be with me! So go ahead and tell Mom, because nothing has ever felt more right than this!” Spencer took Ashley’s hand boldly and Glen even looked a little surprised. Ashley’s heart soared and she felt pride for Spencer and the steps she was taking. The people on the loading deck started waving at them wildly to get off but Spencer wasn’t budging. “So what’s it gonna be? Are you going to be an asshole or be my brother?”
