Everything Changes After Spending 7 Months Apart – (Chapter: You change your mind like a girl changes clothes!)
“I’m having problems.” Ashley announces over the phone
“What kind of problems?” I ask, still trying to shake the hangover headache from the night before. I can’t for the life of me remember why I insisted upon drinking alone. I still hadn’t been to sleep since I sucked the last of the beer through a straw, followed by sugary tea to increase the drunk. I remember Aiden flirting with me over text message even though boundaries had been set, and I remember bitching at him for it. But I still can’t remember why I started drinking and why I still wanted to.
Ashley is tense in her words. “Problems” she repeats. I stay silent as I try to guess at what she is talking about. I can’t figure it out. “You’re thinking too innocently.” She says. Even the voice is laughing.
She’s horny! Hey, Spencer, should you take this one or should I?
Voice, I have too much of a headache to make words come out. I’m letting you take over for a little bit. Do your bidding.
Somehow I had a feeling that letting the voice take over and control what I actually said would be a bad idea. “Well, I would say that I could fix that Wednesday, but we will be at a DMV. So that sounds like a bad idea. But you’re coming over to spend the night next weekend. We can work that problem out then.” Damn, that voice in my head is a flirt.
“No, that’s not allowed!” Ashley exclaims.
I collapse my headache heavy head on my pillow. Not this again. I thought we were done with changing the answer to those questions. I still can’t make myself function correctly, so I let the voice continue on. “Is that your final answer?!” There was a sneer behind my voice. I decided it would be best to fight the voice for dominance at this point before the voice got too bitchy with Ashley. “And I’m not saying that because I want to get laid. I’m saying that because the answer keeps changing from yes to maybe to no and back again.”
I can tell from the way that my voice is fluctuating in tone so often that I can almost hear the battle of me against the voice for the right to speak. I wonder if Ashley can tell. I sure hope not.

i cant wait for the next update :)
I truly feel like I understand a bit about everything that’s going on in here, from my own personal experience. the changing definition of what you two are and what goes on between you; stepping aside to let the other make mistakes on their own but being there to help out when it becomes overwhelming; not wanting to lie especially about something so big, and especially because you want to regain the trust that someone once had in you; feeling frustrated that your advice is never really listened to; right down to the sleeping while the sun is out, although I’m trying really hard to kick that habit. I think a lot of it is because I went through something a tiny bit similar with my ex best friend. not nearly as involved as this situation, but I definitely get it. and being that this is all true to life, I’m a bit worried about the “aiden” situation, so I just will say be careful! as always you know I wish you luck with this situation, and I hope the weekend goes well for you!
just saw this was up, as I’m heading to bed, so I wanted to let you know I’ll be reviewing tomorrow! well, later today I guess. just a heads up for ya. ‘night for now.
