    Ashley assumed ‘they’ were Paula and Arthur. The rock star thought back to everything she had heard about his mother. She couldn’t recall much but did remember she was hooked heavily on drugs. “I’m sure there’s a good reason behind them keeping you here.” She stated calmly. “Your aunt would never intentionally hurt you this bad.”

    He looked at her. “How do you know how I feel?”

    “It’s real simple Denny.” She cracked a bitter smile. “I know how much it hurts not having your mother around. Especially when she’s all you’ve ever wanted.” She shrugged at the sympathy washing over the younger boy’s eyes. “The worst thing you can do is give into your anger.”

    Denny snorted. “Too late for that. I’m pissed that they won’t let me go. I’m old enough to go live with my mom, but they refuse to let me see her.”

    “How bad is she?” She asked quietly.

    “We talking drugs?” Ashley nodded. “She does a little bit of everything but mostly coke-”

    Ashley laughed harshly. “Forget about her.” She advised soberly. “She’s not worth the trouble.”

    “Excuse me?”

    The rock star didn’t fail to notice his clenched fists and shocked eyes. He was angry at her, maybe she said the wrong thing, but then again, she had a point. Her words were honest having lived them. “If it’s coke she’s hooked on your better off here.”

    “What’s the fucking deal?!” He snapped. “She just gets high, i’ve been high before and it wasn’t that major.”

    Turning on the bed, Ashley faced the teen and crossed her legs. “And what have you been high on?”

    “Pot.”

    The rock star smirked. “Are you really comparing pot to coke?” He nodded slowly. “I’m assuming you’ve smoked pot before, have you ever tried coke?” He shook his head. “There’s a huge difference.” She held out her arm and pulled up her hoodie sleeve. The gasp escaping the boy’s lips was expected. Her arm was a mess of red cuts and faded scars, she looked back up at him “The fresher ones- I didn’t feel. Remembering what happened that night is kind of hard, but I’ll tell you this. Cocaine and pot are two different damages. I’ve been doing cocaine for over two years and it really messed me up. I didn’t give a shit about the band, the fans or anything else, including myself, but coke. Even now, as I speak about it, how it ruined my life,” She snorted, “How it’s killing my father- if it was right here, in this room, right now, i’d be snorting it. It’s just that powerful. Your mother is invalid as long as she’s smoking, snorting, or injecting cocaine. You and Caitlyn don’t mean anything to her.” She pulled her sleeve back down. “You’re better off here with your Aunt and Uncle, they’re giving you everything an addict can’t.”

    2. Wow! How I have truly missed this. Such an amazing update. I can’t say enough. Love this part of their journey together. I’m glad that Ashley is getting to see that she can be a great person without the drugs. Can’t wait for more. Great writing. Very inspiring.

    5. ashley’s getting along with spencer’s family even if paula and arthur get suspicious every once in a while. i’m glad spence had ashley talk to denny maybe he won’t do any more pot and the scene where he’d said i really think she’d let you do her was hilarous my favorite scene. ash really needs to call brenda and talk to kyla not just text pms

    6. i was late to school cause i started reading at 6:00 am and stilll havnt touched my homework. but luckly getting home to read this motivated me to finish my 5 mile run for track faster

    11. This is such a sweet chapter, thanks for making so long. lol, i love the long chapters. I’m really glad Ashley is deciding to change. These two are so amazing. There’s just a ton of things I’m liking about the story. I love how Paula and Arthur actually like Ashley in this fic. Go figure. Anyway I can’t wait for the next update, i’ll be patient but it won’t be easy. XD

    12. First the smoke blowing: You are an amazing author! I wish you could just knock these posts out every week but I know good things take time and so alas I must wait, thank you though for sharing your talent.Ok, soo interesting, I get the impression that Paula is either A)passive aggressive or B) just really cool with the fact that Ashley and Spencer are seemingly together… Arthur on the other hand seems a little less like he’d be into their relationship…Time will tell I suppose.I love Denny! He’s like a male Ashley…a little more immature but I like him!Also, interesting form of therapy for Ashley…meeting a well adjusted family seems to have helped put a few things into perspective for her. Maybe she needs to stay out of LA, environment is apparently everything…or maybe what Ashley needs to do is turn her actually family into a better one. Hopefully she reconnects with Kyla and her mother, they seem to hold a meaningful soft spot in her heart.PMS PMS PMS

    13. I cannot even tell you how much I loved this update. I took time to read it (3 or 4 days) because I knew it’s gonna take a while for the next update to be posted, so I wanted to savor reading it. I love what you created between Ashley and Spencer…it’s almost something magical. Everytime I read this story I forget everything around me, no lie. (The prologue still worries me, though). I hope Ashley will manage to stay away from the drugs..she’s much better of without them. It probably is gonna take a while, but I hope you’ll update soon-ish. I’m addicted to this story. :P I really am.

    14. I swear i can never get enough of this story… im waiting for something bad to happen though, things are a little too perfect for the girls… o and i cant wait for Spence and Denny to come out to each other
