    Family – (Chapter: 15 ~ The Park)

“You and Kennedy could have a messiest eater contest, and I couldn’t bet on a winner.”  Ashley looked up at the doorway and froze; a large piece if strawberry falling back into her bowl.

“Sfenfer?”  The brunette just looked on in shock as the blonde smiled and then came over and wiped the mess off of her face with a napkin.  Ashley swallowed the remainder of food and then stared up at the blonde as she finished mopping up the mess.  “Does this mean you’re not mad at me anymore?”  Spencer’s smile fell but as she looked into Ashley’s eyes, she knew she was losing the battle.

“Just tell me what was going on with you and her?”  Ashley sighed and then nodded, offering the blonde the seat next to her.  Spencer sat down and stole a few bites of Ashley’s split.

“As you know, I was working late a lot the last month, well… I really did have to stay, she just stayed with me.  She and I would talk, I would vent my stress to her, and we would just hang out you know?”  Spencer’s jaw was set, but she stayed silent and just listened.  “Well, she tried to make a move on me.  I thought about it, I admit that.  But I couldn’t do it.  I told her the truth, and she agreed to just keep it friendly.”

    “When was that?”

“The night that I missed dinner with your family.  She didn’t stop by until like an hour after I called you though.  And then she just kind of stayed.  I didn’t really think anything of the flirting.  I just thought she was like me.  You know I don’t mean most of the things I say to people.”  Spencer nodded her understanding.

“But why did you think about it?  Being with her?”

“I’m stressed, Spence.  With work, with Kennedy, with us…”  Ashley tried to look at Spencer but the broken look on the blonde’s face was too much and she quickly dropped her head in shame.  “I’m sorry I thought about it, but it was a split second of ‘My life would just be easier if…’ .  I honestly didn’t cheat on you.  I could never cheat on you.  I love you and our daughter too much to do that.”  Spencer nodded with a slight smile.
