From Spangs to Spashley – (Chapter: Chapter Four)

Spencer was stirring in her sleep and Ashley was still watching Spencer sleep. “Ashley?” Spencer said groggily.

    “Yeah, sweetie?” said Ashley.

“Why are you so far away?” Spencer asked with curiosity.

“Not really,” answered Ashley. Spencer snuggled closer to Ashley.

“This feels nice, Ashley you holding me,” Spencer stated with a smile. I never felt so safe before in my entire life.

“Yes, it does feel nice,” agreed Ashley as she stroked Spencer’s hair. So I take it that Bangs was never much into cuddling with her girlfriend?

“Does Carmen look like she likes to cuddle with me?” Spencer joked.

“You never know,” responded Ashley with a laugh. You’ll find someone who will make you feel safe and loved, I promise. How are you holding up from everything that’s happened?

“I guess,” Spencer sighed. I don’t know if I will ever find someone. Maybe everyone is not meant to be loved. I’m alright, thanks for asking.

“Everyone is meant to be loved,” responded Ashley.

    “Even me?” Spencer asked.

“Especially you,” answered Ashley. I don’t know any other girl who is as beautiful, loving, wonderful, and sweet as you are, Spence.

“How could someone as beautiful have no one to be with?” Spencer asked with curiosity. If that’s the case for you, how is there hope for the rest of us?

“As you already know, I’ve never been a big fan of having attachments,” began Ashley. It’s just who I am. I haven’t really found a girl that I could see myself having a future and who could put up with my crap.

“You’ll find her,” Spencer stated reassuringly.

“I guess I will,” responded Ashley. I already have, but you don’t know that though, Spence.

A couple days later, Spencer and Ashley were having dinner at Spencer’s house. “I heard that you and psycho girl broke up,” Glen began.

“You and Carmen broke up, Spence?” asked Arthur. I’m sorry to hear that.

“Yeah, we broke up,” Spencer answered. You don’t need to be sorry, Dad. Carmen and I weren’t really right together to begin with. Glen, who told you that Carmen was a psycho?

“Aiden from the basketball team told me your ex-girlfriend was a psycho,” explained Glen.

“Aiden?” Ashley said confused. How did jockstrap know about what was going on between you and Bangs, babe?

“It’s nothing,” replied Spencer with a sigh. He caught Carmen on one of her bad days, that’s all. May I be excused?

“Sure,” Arthur said. Spencer left the kitchen and went upstairs.

“I’ll go check up on her, Mr. C,” said Ashley.

“Thank you, Ashley,” Arthur replied. Ashley followed Spencer.

“Spencer, wait up!” Ashley called. Ashley finally caught up with Spencer. Did Aiden know that Bangs was hurting you?

“Does it really matter?” questioned Spencer with a sigh.

“Yes, it does,” Ashley responded. Everything that happens with you matters to me. You really matter to me.

“Yeah, he did know, Ash,” sighed Spencer. He saw Carmen beating me up one day at school. The loser promised to not tell anyone.

“Don’t worry,” Ashley smiled. I’ll get him later, Spence. Ashley hugged Spencer.

Meanwhile, Glen and Arthur were still at the dinner table. “Do you think that one of us should check up on Spence?” asked Glen with concern. I didn’t mean to upset her, Dad.

“No, I think that Ashley has it taken care of,” Arthur answered.

“How come they’ve never dated?” asked Glen. Spencer was a lot happier with being friends with Ashley than with dating Carmen. She also was really wary when Carmen was around. I never understood what that was about. It was almost like she was afraid of her or something.

“I know that Spencer is happier with Ashley, but it seems that one or both of them are afraid of losing a good friendship in case they would break up,” Arthur began.
