Give Up Forever To Touch You – (Chapter: 1)
“I don’t- I don’t really pray but if you could just help me out here. I promise-"
The blonde stood anxiously from her daughter’s bedside, clutching a thermometer. It was night time in the city, headlights passed below, reflecting off the window panes. Worn curtains blew in the spring air.
“One o five, one hundred and five.” She exclaimed.
“Oh my god, ok ok, run a bath.” The older woman made her way over to the bookshelf where a phone sat waiting. “Call the doctor, run a bath, get her into the bath- Doctor Curtis, 6-5-5” She dialed the number, her head raising in realization, “Oh he wont be there.”
She dropped the phone and raced to the bathroom. The sound of running water emanating from within.
In the room a dark figure sat next to a bed. No shadow was cast on the wall behind her. She had dark brown curls and facial features that seemed as is they had been untouched by time. She appeared youthful and fresh. Clad in a black trench coat the girl leaned forward in her chair edging closer to the bed.
Next to the brunette lay a girl of about five or six. She tossed and turned in the cold evening air. Her face red, her skin on fire. The brunette stared down at the little girl and extended her hand. The child looked at her nervously, taking in the girl’s appearance. It isn’t often that a dark figure miracously appears next to your bed. However after sensing that the stranger meant no harm, she reached out to her.
“Thermometer what is a thermometer? Mercury? How does it even work.. Maybe I can page him” The mother’s voice echoed off the bathroom walls.
——————————————————————–
It was a sunny day in Los Angeles, the dark figure from the room sat staring at the sky, a tall brunette boy next to her he was dressed all in black just like his companion. The girls trench coat whipped around her in the wind her long brown hair flying about. The girl turned her head to the boy, “She definitely knew what she liked” exclaimed the girl.
“Seriously Ashley? Pajamas?” asked the boy, curiously.
“Flannel, with feet” she replied.
“Pajamas?” He brushed his hand through his hair thoughtfully. “Excellent choice. What else?”
“In the elevator of the Bradbury building” Ashley replied. “A man touched a woman’s bare skin by accident but it made her turn and look at him in such a way”
“And they?” The boy waggled his eyebrows.
She returned her gaze, “Yes”
“Hmm” The pair sat together aimlessly, their feet dangling off the edge of a highway exit sign as cars sped past below.
“Aiden, do you ever wonder what that’d be like … touch?” The girl asked.
The boy thought for a moment, “No”
She stared at him incredulously, “Yes you do”
He then thought for a moment “Eh, occasionally yes … touch”
