Just Wait then. – (Chapter: 11)
As Ashley pulled in her driveway that night she had a hard time wrapping her mind around her day. She had never felt so emotionally exhausted. Spencer was sitting on the couch when she opened the door.
“How did it go?” Spencer asked softly.
“I honestly don’t even know” Ashley slumped down into the couch next to Spencer, and used her hand to hold her head up, she looked broken.
“I told him, he was obviously upset and apologetic, but mostly we just sat quiet for a long time.”
“I’m sorry babe, I should have told you but I really just thought it would make everything worse.”
“I know, it’s fine I swear, I’m so tired lets just go to bed, we can talk more about it tomorrow when my head clears.”
Spencer just nodded her head she could see her fiance was totally drained so she got up and offered her hand to Ashley.
They both slept hard that night, the reality of the horrors in the world crashing down on them. It was just to much to think about. This is why people avoid this kind of stuff because just hearing what others go through makes a normal person feel so small.
In the morning when Spencer’s alarm went off Ashley rolled over and shut it off. She knew Spencer had some extra time to snooze and she just wanted some quiet time with her before she left for work. She just held Spencer quietly and kissed her back. Spencer melted into her and they both just stayed quiet in their own thoughts.
After a few minutes Spencer flipped over and re-positioned herself so she could wrap her arms around Ashley’s waist. “Are you OK?” She asked in a husky morning voice whisper.
“Yeah, I just wanted to spend some time with you before you left for work. I can’t believe after all this we have to go to your parents this weekend.” Ashley was dreading the visit
“I know I’m going to call my mom and explain that she can’t get loud or yell around Jordan. I don’t want her scaring the shit out of her.”
“I didn’t even think about that…..you know your mom is always so pleasant.” Ashley said sarcastically joking.
