“Sorry, I don’t have one,” she lied.

 “Oh thank you,” the boy said as someone beside him handed over a pencil.

As she turned around Ashley saw who had given the boy the pencil. “You’re welcome,” the girl said. Ashley couldn’t take her eyes off the girl with her short red hair, porcelain skin, and green eyes. Her breath caught in her throat as she locked eyes with the redhead. “Hola,” the professor said, signaling the beginning of class. Ashley tore her gaze from the beautiful girl and faced the board. She struggled to concentrate the entire class.

An hour later as she walked out of Spanish, Ashley felt a tap on her shoulder. “Hi,” the redhead said.

“Hey,” Ashley replied, she was dumbfounded by the girl in front of her. Her hair was cut extremely close to her head, like Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby. Her green eyes had specks of blue throughout and she was statuesque, standing at about 5’10. “I’m Kenadie,” were the next words out of her full pink lips.

Ashley finally found her voice, “I’m Ashley. I haven’t seen you in this class before.”

“I usually go to the night class but couldn’t make it tonight,” Kenadie said.

Ashley started, “So you…”

 “Can I be up front with you Ashley,” Kenadie interrupted. Ashley nodded. She continued, “You are extremely beautiful and I wanted to know if you would join me for lunch.” Ashley became flustered. She was used to women pursuing her but only one person had this affect on Ashley and she was clear across the country.

 “Um, I have…,” Ashley started.

Kenadie interrupted again, “Oh, you’re seeing someone? I sorry, I’ll just…”

It was Ashley’s turn to interrupt,” No I don’t have…well sort of…well it’s complicated.”

Kenadie smiled and Ashley felt her knees get weak. “Why don’t you let me know when it gets less complicated,” she said as she began backing away. Ashley was rooted to her spot, “Okay.”

 “Alright then, I’ll see you around Ashley,” Kenadie flashed another smile and then walked away. Ashley remained still for a few moments as she calmed herself. Afterwards she walked to her car and drove to see Aiden.
