    Lost In The Bottle

Ashley leaned her head against the wall, eyes shut as she just breathed into the receiver for a moment. She wanted to hear Spencer’s voice on the other line. She wanted to be able to feel the concern in her tone. Ashley wanted to feel, but at this point, the feelings just weren’t there. She didn’t deserve to be forgiven, she didn’t deserve to be remembered, Spencer would be better off to just forget her. This would be her last call to Spencer. After this she would just do the respectable thing and disappear, it’d be best for everyone.

“…G’bye Spence.” With that the brunette ended the call, setting it down on the counter. There was a moment of silence and contemplation before Ashley began to feel a knot start to twist in her gut. It was compiled of pure hatred, hatred for herself. She didn’t deserve anything in this apartment. Nothing. Her fists balled as she looked wildly around her, the palms of her hands bleeding as her nails dug into the soft flesh.

It was then that she flew into a complete rage and tirade of destruction. The mirror was the first to go, and she tore it off the wall in one swift, angry motion. It crashed to the floor, sending fragments of glass every which way. It wasn’t enough though, and soon she was tearing through her entire apartment, shattering everything in her path. Bookcases were toppled, chairs flung, TV’s dashed to the floor and papers shredded. By the time she was storming back into the kitchen, her entire house looked like a hurricane had ripped through.

As she entered the kitchen her foot slid upon some spilled booze and she fell backwards, the back of her head connecting with the counter edge. By the time she collided with the floor she was already unconscious. A small pool of blood formed around her head, the bright red contrasting her white tile floor. Maybe she was done now. Maybe she’d die here in a pool of her own blood and alcohol. It’d only be fitting.

Spencer entered her home around 10pm, her head aching as she used her body to shut the door behind her. It had been yet another stressful day at the firm, and she was beginning to regret taking on more cases. She’d launched herself so heavily into her work since she and Ashley had separated, it kept her mind busy. Her message machine blinked impatiently, and she groaned as she approached it, her finger hesitating above the play button. She didn’t have the energy for any more tension.
