Christmas Eve(Evening)

4 days has passed and certain awkward presence was in the household of the Carlin’s especially for Spencer and Ashley. The two slept once together in the bed but Ashley ended coming downstairs to sleep because she was scared that her hands would have roamed.

‘Tonight is Christmas Eve, no gifts until the morning,’ said Arthur to the pleading of his now adult children. Next year, Glen and Clay was allow to bring home their girlfriends since Mr. Carlin wanted alone time with his family in four years. Spencer and Ashley bidding relationship was coming soon but no one knew when.

‘Okay, in the morning,’ said Spencer who winked at Ashley who was smiling drinking hot cocoa. Everyone was playing a board game when there was a knock at the door.

‘Triple word score HERPES!’ exclaimed Ashley.

Glen got up and answered the door. It was Brian with flowers for Spencer.

Spencer stood up with a questioning face, ‘Brian, I’m surprised that you are here. What brings you here?’

‘I am here for you, sweetheart,’ Brian kissed his girlfriend on the cheek. Spencer could sense that Ashley was getting jealous because she had excused herself to the kitchen.

‘I do have an announce for you and your family,’ said Brian who wanted the whole family in the area. He asked Ashley to join again. Ashley now had on her jacket sat next to Mr. Carlin who gave a her a reassuring pat on the leg.

Brian got on one knee with a few tears, ‘Spencer Carlin, I love you and I know I haven’t been the best for awhile but I do feel I can be that man for you. We are not getting any younger these days. I want you to accept this ring from me.’

Ashley sat back in awe and folded her arms. He did not know what made Spencer scared. He did not know her favorite food or even her color to wear in winter. Ashley looked at Clay who was staring back at her. He mouthed, ‘I am so sorry.’

Ashley shook her head and stood up, ‘Let’s congratulate the new couple on this fine evening.’

Everyone followed in pursuit and applauded the couple. Spencer did not even answer Brian. She couldn’t read Ashley who offered to go get some wine to celebrate. She gave her best friend a hug and in her ear, ‘Congrats Mrs. Kinney.’
