Loving Annabelle, Alternate Ending Fan Fiction Contest
"Oh I’m sorry" said Collins before handing it to her with a shy smile.
"Erm, thanks." Without adding a word, Simone opened the door, turning towards Annabelle, ashamed of leaving her there, ashamed that Collins had discovered them, ashamed of her feelings for her student, before finally closing the door behind her.
Annabelle grew worried as she read Simone’s shame and fears in her eyes. <Don’t leave me>
Watching her friend sitting on a chair, noticeably worried, Collins went to sit beside her;
"Annabelle, it’s okay, really. I won’t tell."
"I know" said Annabelle suddenly feeling tears in her eyes, "it’s just that…"
"You’re scared she won’t want to see you again?" asked Collins timidly.
Tears slowly rolling down her cheeks silently, Annabelle smiled at her friend who had just read her mind "Yeah…"
Not knowing what to say next, Collins hugged her, remembering that had been exactly what Annabelle had done the night her porcupine had died.
After a moment, Collins proposed;
"Come on, let’s go back upstairs."
——
"You wanted to see me?"
"Yes I did Simone. Where have you been for the last four hours? Were you hiding in the basement or something?"
Even though Simone couldn’t have blushed as she was already bright red, her eyes threatened to pop out at the shock.
"I…"
Not really giving a damn about where she was, her aunt pursued;
"I need those files I asked you to review yesterday."
<Fuck!> Simone had been so busy trying to find time for Annabelle, that she had completely forgotten about her school duties.
"I haven’t finished them yet…"
"It’s acceptable I suppose. Can you give me those you have finished then?"
"I haven’t really started yet…" said Simone rather shamefully.
"Good God Simone! Are you alright? Is something the matter? Is it Michael?"
<Who? Oh yeah…> "No, I mean yes. I mean, it’s over."
"Well that certainly explains your recent behaviour. But you have certain responsibilities that I’d like you to assume so please, get over your break up rapidly and get back to work."
Simone had heard enough of her aunt treating her like a child, but then again, she couldn’t do much about it. "I will."
