Loving Annabelle, Alternate Ending Fan Fiction Contest

[MOTHER IMMACULATA leaves, slamming the door behind her. SIMONE studies herself in the mirror, wiping her eyes    and catching her breath that was taken from her in standing up to MOTHER IMMACULATA. She sighs, and pulls on a    shirt and jeans, sitting down on the bed and looking through the photos of ANNABELLE. The door clicks open again]

      ENTER ANNABELLE

SIMONE: (Takes a deep breath, expecting it to be MOTHER IMMACULATA again): I am not your little girl anymore

[ANNABELLE sets the tray down on the desk across from SIMONE]

SIMONE: (Still not knowing that it is ANNABELLE): Please, i don’t… (She is cut off)
    ANNABELLE: Hey..

[SIMONE looks up, her eyes focused on ANNABELLE’S. She is frozen for a minute,        her eyes slowly fill with tears, she looks away, resting her head in her hands]

    SIMONE: I thought…I didn’t…I thought you realized…I’m a mistake..

[ANNABELLE kneels on the floor next to SIMONE, resting her hand on SIMONE’S      thigh and smiling up at her]

    ANNABELLE: I’m going nowhere

      [CUT to HALLWAY]

[MOTHER IMMACULATA is walking down the corridor slowly. Her head is held high and she strides confidently, keeping her nose in the air. She enters her office and closes the door, leaning against it as it closes. All of the
confidence has rushed from her face, leaving her pale and fragile looking. She produces    a small silver flask that that has a small rosary pattern on it. She smiles, lifting the flask to her lips and taking a swig. She replaces the  flask, and stands up straight, smoothing her clothes out. She moves to sit at her desk, shuffling papers around. A knock comes upon the door]

    MOTHER IMMACULATA: Come i…

[She is cut off as SIMONE flings the door open, closing it loudly behind her. Around her neck are ANNABELLE’S
prayer beads, and in her hand, a loose folder full of papers. She sits down in the chair]

MOTHER IMMACULATA: I’m at a loss for words. How could you let something like this happen?
    SIMONE: I don’t know
MOTHER IMMACULATA: Well surely, there must have been a moment when you thought to yourself, "Is this really the right thing to do?"
SIMONE: That would have been every moment. I’m not trying to say what i did was right.
MOTHER IMMACULATA: (Angrily) It is not right!
SIMONE: I don’t expect you to understand, but i love her.
