Today was no different. The first week of school had been overwhelming, especially when Spencer, being a little of a nerd, had written out all their homework assignments on Post-It notes and stuck them to her bulletin board according to their deadlines. Billiard Academy is the top school in their district, and they do not go easy on their students, especially the seniors. Spencer was all ready to take on her final year in high school and graduate with a close-to-perfect GPA.

As Spencer ran, her thoughts suddenly shifted from mundane school work to a certain brunette. Spencer shook her head, trying to get rid of the image of Ashley in her mind. Spencer knew she liked the other girl, even though she wasn’t exactly sure why. She knew she would be better off without Ashley, especially the way Ashley inadvertently teases her with her double-meaning words and that nose-crinkling grin of hers.

But there was just something about Ashley that pulled Spencer in, no matter how hard she tried to resist. It definitely does not help that Ashley gushes about Delilah every other minute. Spencer sighed, listening to the dull sound of her footsteps on the ground. What’s the best way to get over a girl? To get under another.

Spencer smirked. She could definitely do that, even though there was a small part in her that felt uneasy at the thought. But she couldn’t wait around for Ashley forever, especially since it was clear as day that Ashley was head over hills in love with Delilah. Spencer made up her mind. She was going to get over pining for Ashley, one way or another.

Spencer panted, slowing her pace until she was jogging. The beach was still deserted; it was too early in the morning for picnic brunches. There were a couple of girls lounging on the sand, getting ready for a lazy day of tanning. Spencer squinted into the distance, recognizing a couple of them. Time to put her Get-Over-Ashley plan in action.

Spencer strolled up to the girls, and sat down in the sand next to them. “Hey, Adriana,” Spencer said, nodding at a beautiful Brazilian girl.

Adriana sat up slowly. “Spencer?” she said in a slightly accented voice. “Oh my god! I haven’t seen you in such a long time!”
