Missing Sun
My head was spinning and for the first time since my human life I felt fragile and vulnerable as I collapsed into Rosalie's waiting arms. I couldn't even cry. Not because I was a vampire, but because my grief was beyond petty tears. Tears symbolised misery and I wasn't miserable. I was in despair.
"We have to find her." I said. I meant it to sound determined but to me it sounded cracked and dead. It stirred something in my memory, but I batted it away angrily. My focus was my daughter.
"CARLISLE!" I called, and he was at once at my side.
"What is it Bella?" He asked, concerned.
"Rensmee's mi-" I started to say, but then I gasped. At the sound of my daughter's name, a crippling pain ripped through my chest, and I remembered why my voice had seemed familiar to me before. It was the dead voice I'd had when Edward left and I'd become a "zombie". The pain was exactly the same and I felt the strangest – and most depressing – sense of dejavu.
"Bella?Bella!?BELLA!" I heard Carlisle's usually calm voice getting panicy. I heard Rosalie say "It's Renesmee. She's missing".
Then three things happened at the same time. Carlisle said "WHAT?!", I screamed in pain from my daughter's name being mentioned again, and Edward appeared out of nowhere, pulling me into his arms.
"Carlisle why's she screaming?! DAMMIT CARLISLE ANSWER ME!" he sounded terrified, and his voice was thick like he had been crying, and I knew then he had read one of our thought's about Nessie.
"AAAAH! I screamed louder whacking my arms around from the pain of thinking of N- her.
"Bella please, tell me!" Edward sounded desperate, horrified.
But I couldn't stop. It hurt too much.
"Rosalie, Edward, you'll have to hold her down, or she will damage something – or someONE!"
I was held down by strong arms, and I stopped screaming and breathed jaggedly.
"Bella what's up?" Edward said ,concerned.
"It…hurts…to think about her!" I managed. "But we have to find her." I attempted to sit up, then remembered the arms holding me down.
"Umm, Carlisle?" I hinted.
"You can let her go now." Carlisle told Edward and Rosalie.
"Right. Edward, find Seth or Leah and tell them to tell Sue about R- what happened. Carlisle tell Esme, Rosalie – take Emmett upstairs. He looks like he needs a rest. I'll handle Alice; it'll be best if she tells Charlie about all this, he likes her best." I instructed, and everyone dissapeare; I opened Alice's door without pausing to knock.
