Moments Like That – (Chapter: 1 – One Step at a Time)
***
At UCLA, Glen is walking around campus to go to his Basketball tryouts. After an English and a Calculus class, he could hardly wait to shoot some hoops and humiliate other kids. Because of Glen’s knee injury, the coach couldn’t guarantee him a spot on the team unless he tried out. He was almost at the gym when he spots a familiar car parked down the lot. A Nissan Xterra.
“Shit.” He mutters, shaking his head and entering the Pauley Pavilion. He entered the locker room and it didn’t take long to spot Aiden changing into his training clothes. The blonde drops his bag on the bench, causing a loud noise to which the taller boy lifted his head. Glen knew the other boy was looking at him, but he refused to say a word or even look at him.
“Hey, Glen.” The blonde rolled his blue eyes and reached for his bag, taking out his shoes. He heard Aiden scoff and walk out of the locker room. At that moment, Glen couldn’t help but smile at the thought of making Aiden his bitch at the basketball court again.

After the longest class in her life, Spencer stands up and walks towards the door, catching a glimpse of Ashley rushing to stand up as well.
“Spencer!” The blonde quickened her pace and scurried away from the brunette. “Spencer, wait.” Ashley repeated as she caught the other girl’s arm and began walking next to her.
Furious blue eyes met brown ones as she kept walking. “I’m done waiting, Ashley. I’ve waited more than I should. This…” She motioned her hands between herself and the brunette and shaked her head. “we are not meant to be.” Her voice is close to a whisper.
“Maybe you’re right, maybe you’re wrong, but at least talk to me.” Ashley reached for the other the blonde’s hand, finally bringing the other girl to a stop.
“Talk? We already talked, Ashley.” Spencer says, pulling her hand away from the brunette’s as a couple of people start staring at them.
“Please, don’t do this.” The brunette’s plea is brushed by the shake of Spencer’s head.
“Ashley, I can’t handle this anymore.” Her voice is now a whisper, almost lost.
“Spence, I’m sorry, but…”
She manages to gather strength to say “No, Ashley. We’re done!”
The brunette lets out a gasp and shakes her head “But-“
“Ashley…” Spencer crosses her arm. “I’m seeing someone else.” She mutters, looking down at her feet.
The brunette hung her mouth open, unable to come up with any reply that wouldn’t make her cry.
“What?” Her voice was a bare whisper, which an unaware ear would probably miss. Spencer didn’t, though.
“I met someone else and we’re dating and…” Spencer says, fighting her tears away. “I think you should do the same.” She attempts a look at the smaller girl just to find a couple of tears forming in her eyes.
“Spencer, you cannot be serious. I mean, we didn’t even break up.”
The blonde lets out a dry laugh and shakes her head. “Can’t you see, Ashley? We didn’t need to break up because we are broken. I hope someday we’ll be able to be friends again.”
Ashley takes s step closer to Spencer. “I can’t be friends with you. I love you!” She tries once again to reach for the other girl’s hand.
Spencer, however, takes three steps back and shakes her head. “Well, than you have to figure things out before I let you in my life again. If you excuse me, I need to go call my girlfriend.” She finally uncrosses her arms and walks away, leaving Ashley dumbstruck standing in the middle of the courtyard, watching the blonde moving so quickly away from her.
“No…”
