No One's Gonna Love You Like I Do – (Chapter: Meet the Fam.)
“Hey dad..This is Spencer.”
“Well she is definitely more beautiful that you told me about Ash” he tells me, and I look over at Spencer and she is blushing up a storm.
“Hi Mr. Davies” my dad interrupts her and tells her to call him Arthur, Mr. Davies is his father.
“So dad..where is mom?”
“She is out.” That is all he says before he starts to ask Spencer about everything. He asks her about her family, her school dreams, how she got into tennis, and just about anything else. I was interested to find out this information about Spencer. She had hinted into her family life, but she had never really gone into depth on it.
“Well, Arthur, My mom and dad got married real young. They were both 17 at the time, and my dad got my mom pregnant and decided to just marry her. My dad always tried to be there for my mom, me and my sister, but he was always working. He is a high power lawyer, and is never really around. Because he is never around, my mom thinks that she can go and do what she wants. I know that they are both having affairs. My dad is the country club type and spends every moment of the weekend up there. That is why I got into tennis. I though that maybe if I could go up to the club on the weekends and play tennis he would see me and come join me..but that never happened. So tennis just turned into my sort of revenge against him. I know that if I get really good, and win tournaments and get my name out there and get a scholarship to college, hopefully Princeton or Yale, that I will be known around the club, and then I bet he will want something to do with me…but I won’t want anything to do with him. He is a great guy for financial purposes, but I don’t feel like he is really my father. My sister Kyla is great though. She is Ash’s age, and she is the real deal family. We do almost everything together. She is my best friend and I can tell her anything. It almost makes my parents alright, because they had me and my sister..and I love her more than anything.” I stand there and look at Spencer in awe because I had know idea that is what her family life was like. I just want to run over to her and hug her.
“Wow, I’m sorry Spencer. Kyla seems like a great person though. If you ever need a good father figure to talk to, I am always available.”
“Thanks Arthur. That means a lot to me.”
We ate chili and cornbread with my dad and talked about anything and everything. My mom never came home that night. I found that odd. At the end of the night me and my dad walk Spencer to the door. My dad hugs Spencer and tells her that she is a bright and beautiful girl that any father would be lucky to call his own. She hugs him even more tightly after that. My dad pats me on the back and I walk Spencer out to her car.
“Your dad is really great”
“Ya, he is the one person I can tell anything to”
“That is really good. You’re lucky.”
“I had a really great time these couple of days.”
“Me too”
We are at her car and I lean in for a kiss. We kiss and it instantly becomes heated. I push her against the car and my hands go to her waist. She wraps her arms around my neck and deepens the kiss. After a couple of minutes of making out and light touching, we decide to really call it a night.
“I’ll see you Monday.” I tell her, and ask at the same time.
“You want me to pick you up for school? I can also drop you off after practice.”
“That would be great”
We both lean in for a quick good by kiss and reluctantly let go of holding hands.
“See you Monday.”
“Monday” She confirms.
Sunday is going to be a long day.
