Nothing But Trouble – (Chapter: Four- Break Down)

Ashley took a seat on the curb, settling her elbows on her  knees before resting her chin in her palms. She was more than torn up inside, she was devastated. It was difficult for her to believe that Spencer, sunny, optimistic, enthusiastic Spencer, had become this person. What is must have taken for this transformation to occur must have been awful, and she hadn’t been there to help her. By then she had given up on Spencer ever forgiving her, hell she hadn’t even expected to see her again.

“I’ve got to help her.” She voiced her thoughts aloud, knowing she could never just leave her like this. But how? That was the difficult question. She had more than enough money, that was for sure. Between her trust fund and her cushy job as a music executive, she was never left wanting for anything. Problem was going to be getting Spencer to accept her help.

The sound of a car pulling up to the curb got her attention and she looked up, seeing the yellow color of a cab. With a sigh she rose to her feet, opening the door and stepping inside the cab, “1671 Beverly Hills Drive please.” She requested as she slipped the seatbelt buckle over her waist, only to find the thing it clicked into had been stolen. Fucking LA. The car jerked to life and soon she was on her way home, the world passing by in the window.

The cab stopped just outside her driveway, the numbers on the little machine reading $08.55. Ashley handed the man, who she hadn’t really looked at before, a ten before slipping out of the car and heading gratefully towards her front door. At least she had the day off from work the next day, so she wasn’t too concerned about  getting a lot of sleep. She wasn’t naïve enough to think that after seeing Spencer again that she was going to be getting to sleep any time soon.

A warm glow pouring into the room was enough to wake Ashley from the sleep she had thankfully fallen into at around 4am the night before. She felt hung over, even though she hadn’t touched a drop of Alcohol. Actually, she should start calling these things Spence-overs.  They always occurred after seeing or ever hearing about the girl, and they were completely unfair. That girl should not still have this effect on her after all this time.
