Nowheresville – (Chapter: Men in White Coats: Chapter 9)

"Ashley! Where are you? I can’t live without you!" I cry to the heavens as the cold creeps into my soul and I feel a breeze where my heart is supposed to be. Frozen, I get up and trudge the long way back to my house as the rain continues. I didn’t want to pass her house, if I saw her mother I don’t know if I could stop myself from murdering her.

    Ashley’s POV

In the darkness I feel nothing, I see and hear nothing. My heart feel empty, my soul cold. I can’t move and I’m not sure if I’m breathing. I am but I’m for not. I think of Spencer and the truck. I think of the blue rope and Aiden. I realize I am not dead because I think there for I am. I want to be dead, death I would welcome with open arms. Apart from Spencer I am nothing. This goes on for an unknown amount of time until something tears at the edges of the darkness peeling it back slowly like stickers from a set. When It’s gone I open my eyes and shut them immediately. So much bright it burns, I like the darkness better. Slowly I take my vitals. I can see, I’m breathing, not sure if I can hear, I moved my toes but the rest of me feel confined, my mouth tastes bitter and I smell cotton. I take my time opening my eyes. When they adjust I notice a straightjacket. I’m in the corner of a white padded room across from a white bed bearly discernable from the floor. I use the bed to get to my feet. I pace the room looking fo ra door, a window, a speaker, anything. Nothing. Rage and dispair consume me like black fire.

"Spencer! Help me! Spencer!" I scream at the ceiling and slam myself into the walls. I fall to my knees bawling.

"Ashley! Violence won’t solve anything. Calm down." a disembodied robotic male voice says to me from no specific direction.

"Who are you? Where’s Spencer? Where am I?" I craok raspily into a corner.

"I am Smiley the telecom system. I know of no one by the name of Spencer. You are safe here." Smiley says.
