"I’d say something’s very wrong with Ash."
Kyla rubbed her cheek against Pete’s, wishing his powdery scent would calm her. Giggling, he squirmed out of her arms and dove towards his father. "Spencer wasn’t in the stands today."
Christine lifted her eyes to her daughter’s. Kyla had mentioned, perhaps too casually, that Ashley was seeing Spencer Carlin again. Christine had hardly needed the information. Once she had heard Spencer was competing again, she’d known what the results would be. The only time she had ever seen Ashley truly devastated had been when Spencer had married the polished British lord. Her rage and threats had been expected. But they turned to a brooding that had concerned her a great deal more.
"Yes, I noticed," Christine replied. "But then, she’s got a match of her own."
"On the next court, and not for a half hour." Kyla cast another worried glance around at the people who filled the stands. "She should have been here."
"Since she wasn’t, there must be a reason."
A fresh tremor of unease ran up Kyla’s back. "Mom, I’ve got to talk to you—alone. Can we go get a cup of coffee?"
Without question, Christine rose. "You fellas keep Pete entertained," she ordered, tousling her grandson’s hair. "Kyla and I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
"You’re going to tell her?" Martin spoke softly as he touched his wife’s hand.
"Yes. Yes, I need to."
Bouncing his son on his knee, he watched them melt into the crowd.
After they had settled at a table, Christine waited for her daughter to begin. She knew Kyla was marking time, ordering coffee, speculating on the chances of rain. Christine let her ramble. An orderly, even-tempered woman, she had learned the best way to deal with her emotional offsprings was to ride out the storm. Eventually Kyla stopped stirring her coffee and lifted her eyes to her mother’s.
"Mom, do you remember when we were here three years ago?"
How could she forget? Christine thought with a sigh. That was the year Ashley had won the tournament and then barely had time to savor it before the world had crumbled around her ears. "Yes, I remember."

awww dam…the shit hits the fan…pms!!!
Man, this is getting good. Ashley had the right to be mad about the cheating, but then she doesn’t know what Kyla did, which I’m sure directly impacted Spencer sleeping with her ex. If Spencer did get an abortion, that’s not Ashley’s decision and she doesn’t really have the right to be mad about that or condemn Spencer for it, it’s not like it was Ashley’s baby anyway. I think when Ashley finds out what Kyla did, I think she is going to be completely done with her, I think it’s gonna be an ironic twist connecting back to last chapter when Ashley said she couldn’t imagine abandoning a family member, no matter what they did. I hope Spencer can make it through this match. Update again soon.

You know the secret going to come out but I thought it would be Eric to break it not Paula. I was under the impression that Spencer’s had a miscarriage not an abortion. So please post because I really need to find out. POST SOOOOOOOOOOOONNN!!!!!!!
Thanks for the comments guys. I’m gonna post the last 3 chapters next weekend. I hope I don’t disappoint you. Don’t worry, Spencer will explain everything to Ashley. It will still be Spashley in the end.
