Paging Doctor Carlin. – (Chapter: Back in LA.)

I cannot believe I’m back in LA. I go across the country for medical school and now I’m back here after taking a job with my mother at the hospital near my old house. To make matters… well more interesting, I have to stay in my old bedroom until I find an apartment of my own. This is going to be fun. If it weren’t for the offer I had gotten from the hospital I would probably still be in New York.

Walking out of the terminal I see my parents… and Glen. Did I mention Glen still lives at home…and gained 150 pounds? I love my brother but being a professional video gamer has done nothing for his body, or his love life for that matter. My dad walks up and hugs me right away.

“Spencer, sweetheart, its so good to see you!” he reluctantly lets go, and now my mother comes up and hugs me.

“You look good, you’re a little pale but don’t worry, you’ll get some color here” Mom always likes to throw those little comments in.

Glen just waves, and offers me a piece of chicken from the bucket he had. I tell him no thank you and on the way to the car, answer the usual questions about my flight, and the trip over.

“My first shift is tonight, and tomorrow I’m going to start looking at apartments” I say as we drive past the familiar streets.

“Don’t be silly, you can stay with us for as long as you’d like” My dad says warmly.

“Thanks dad, but I should really start looking while I still have the time to do it.”

“Yes I agree” my mother chimes in “After the first week you’ll practically be living at the hospital. I guarantee it.”

She’s right. My schedule is booked. That’s the way I prefer it. We pull up to the house. It hasn’t changed at all. Dad pulls out my bags from the trunk, and my mother opens the door. I was even more surprised how the inside of the house hadn’t changed. Not even a little bit. Every piece of furniture was in the same spot, the walls were the same color. The same pictures in the same places. I walk over to the table by the stairs, where a bunched of framed pictures still were. I picked up one from prom. It was Me, Glen, and Clay with our dates.
