    Past Perfect – (Chapter: 3)

“Ash, have you seen my earrings?”

I stepped into the bathroom, “Uh…no.”

She continued fishing through her jewelry box, “I can’t find them.”

I remembered when she went back to New York with me. She had lost her earrings then too, “You always lose those things don’t you?”

    “Ironically…yes…I do.”

I walked up behind her, wrapping my arms around her waist, “You look wonderful.” I planted a kiss on the back of her neck, “It’s just a simple dinner with some record executives. It’s nothing big Spence. You look fine.”

She leaned her head back on my shoulder, “Alright,” she turned around and wrapped her arms around my neck, “Let’s go.” She quickly kissed me on the lips and then we were walking downstairs.

Madison had agreed to baby sit. She was sitting downstairs with Jesslyn and her son Corbin. She was definitely a good aunt. I imagined that she was a good mother as well. It amazed me how she had become one of the key figures in my life. The “head-cheer-bitch” was so humble now.

    “Mad’s we’re leaving.”

Madison stood up from the couch, holding Jesslyn and began speaking in baby-talk, “Oh…come on Jessi, tell your mommy’s bye!”

Spencer held onto Jesslyn’s little hand with her index finger and her thumb, “Bye my love…I’ll see you in a couple of hours.” And then she gave her a light kiss on the top of her head.

“Alright, you have all the contact information right?”

Madison looked at me as if I was crazy, “Ash, I’m your personal assistant. I’m pretty sure that I’d know a way to get a hold of you if you were on a deserted island.”

“I know. I know. I’m just making sure.” I stared at her and finally I decided to say goodbye to my baby daughter, “Bye brat. I love you. Behave for Aunt Madi.” I also gave Jesslyn a light kiss on the top of her head.

Spencer and I got in the car. Usually I drove but it was a nice change to not be behind the wheel. The dinner was going to be held at the recording studio. My album was selling pretty well. And everyone was awaiting the long tour that I had ahead of me. They were even discussing releasing the album overseas. I knew that my father would be proud of me if he were alive. I was making big commotion in the rock world.

    5. Yes, great update. I actually like the pacing of this too. Waiting until Thursday does make you have something to look forward to because you know it’s going to be there. Anyway, love your story…
