“Good morning beautiful” she smiled resting her forehead on my while I continued to straddle her.

“Good morning yourself” as I spoke our lips touched so softly that I almost wouldn’t notice, except I did notice because it was her.

“Do you want me to whip something up? I thought I saw some pancake mix or something in there, and I know there are eggs”

“Nope, let’s order something in”

“I really don’t mind”

“But if you go then you won’t be in this bed with me. And as much as I love your cooking, id much rather have you be warming me up”

“Very true.”

I reached around for my phone on the nightstand and called up a local place to get some breakfast delivered. If it was possible I didn’t want to leave the bed all day.

“I don’t want to put clothes on all day” I thought out loud

“I’m sure the delivery boy will love that” she laughed wrestling me down to the bed and tucking some strands of hair behind my ear. Every small touch was like nothing I had ever felt before. She has this way of making me feel like we were the only two people on earth. I had never felt like this in such a short amount of time. We connected on a level I didn’t even know exist. It was like we had known each other forever.

“what are you thinking about?”

“How do you know I’m thinking about something?”

“You’re eyes they get all wide, and the blue takes over. You like…think with your eyes or something. I don’t know how else to explain it”

“I never heard that before. I’ll have to check it out sometime”

“You didn’t answer my question”

“What was that?”

“What were you thinking about?”

“What do you think, I was thinking about?”

“Oh I see what’s going on here. Trying to get all inside my head. Huh Carlin? Well, I think you were thinking about me.”

“That’s a given”

“Nothing in life is a given”

“Ashley, I think it’s a safe bet to say when you had a night like we just did, and a wake up like you just had it is a given nothing but you will be on my mind for quiet sometime.”

“I like the sound of that”

“I have a question for you”

“Shoot”

“How is a girl like you single?”

“Ohh a 26 year old that lives on her sister’s couch and watches Maury all afternoon? I don’t know why nobody ever snatched me up Spence” she avoided my eyes as she said it. And even if she was joking I could feel some pain behind her words. Like this wasn’t where she thought she would be. Like something had happened. Which reminded me of what Kyla had said before, about her having all this bullshit in her past. But I always give people the benefit of the doubt, and I didn’t want to push the issue.

“No, I mean a sexy creative caring woman. But either way lucky for me!”

“I’m the lucky one Spencer.”

I kissed her lightly and began to play with her hair. As she just gazed into my eyes

“Maury huh?”

“Ohh yes, I love those paternity test ones. And the out of control teens it doesn’t get much better than that. Give me a bowl of Lucky Charms and the remote and I’m the happiest girl in the world”

“You’re too funny Ash”

She opened her mouth to say something, and then stopped. The wheels were turning in her head and I kind of got what she meant about the thinking through your eyes deal. She looked so conflicted.

Ding.

Saved by the bell I guess. But I was starving. I had a pretty extensive workout last night.

I wrapped myself up in the sheets and made my way to the door.

“Hey, you stole all the blankets”

“Well I can’t open the door naked, and it will keep you from trying to escape somewhere”

“Trust me, im not going anywhere anytime soon Spencer”

And I believed her.
