Romeo and Juliet (South style) – (Chapter: Ch. 3)

Who is that? Ashley thought to herself as she watched Spencer dance and mingle from behind a pillar so she wouldn’t be seen by any passing Carlins.

"She’s gorgeous." Ashley unconciously said aloud. Nearby, Clay Carlin, Spencer’s cousin, heard her and recognized her voice, he quickly headed for Arthur, his uncle.

"Uncle Arthur, there is a Davies at this party. The nerve of her." Clay said as he gestured towards Ashley who noticed this and quickly looked away and headed for the punch bowl.

"Clay, let it be. From what I hear, Ashley Davies is a fine young lady. If you cause any sort of riff-raff in front of my guests, there will be conseqences, young man, you hear me?" Arthur said sternly, knowing how fiery Clay’s temper could be. The boy could snap in a matter of seconds, and he didn’t want that at his party, not in front of his guests. He had a reputation to uphold.

"Yes sir." Clay sulked, as he walked off, shooting a dirty look at Ashley. She shook it off and looked back to Spencer, who spotted her and the two locked eyes. They were like this for at least 10 minutes, everywhere they wen they would look to see where the other one was. Finally Ashley gathered up the courage to go and introduce herself. SHe waited for when Spencer wasn’t looking, she stayed low and made her way through the crowd of people. She snuck up behind Spencer and pulled her behind a pillar so no one could see them.

"May I have the honor of dancing with you?" Ashley asked, flashing a smile that turned Spencer’s heart and legs both to mush.

    "I, well, um, I can’t, actually. Sorry."Spencer said.

"Well, I know a way you can make it up to me." Ashley replied.

    "How?"

"Kiss me." Was all she said, Spencer wanted to refuse her so badly, I mean, c’mon she doesn’t even know her name! But it was those brown eyes, those will be the death of her. Ashley leaned in and at that moment Spencer just went for it and leaned in and kissed her. They both immediately felt a shock run through their bodies. They pulled away and stared at each other.

"Spencer! You’re mother wants a word with you!" Phyllis yelled coming up, breaking both of them out of a trance. Spencer went with her, she never stopped looking at Ashley. Ashley followed close behind. When Spencer found her mother, Phyllis turned back around and went the other way. Ashley stopped her and asked her who Spencer mother was.

"Why, young lady, she’s the woman of the house!" Phyllis said and Ashley’s heart stopped.

"She’s a Carlin." Ashley said to herself and felt her stomach sink to the floor.

    Sorry it’s short!!!!
