Roommates – (Chapter: Ashley Davies, my secret gay lover)

“You want to shower? Okay. Hop in, I’m right behind you.” I said eagerly. Spencer shook her head and laughed. “Ashley, you need a cold shower by yourself.” Then her expression and tone got serious. “Ash, I just want to get to the beach, relax, and talk. Because we need to talk.” I gulped. “About?” I asked, in an unsteady, shaky voice. “About a lot of things.” She replied simply, grabbing her 2 piece swimsuit out of her drawers and towels. Please, Spencer, don’t bail out on me. I pleaded silently. It appears that my happiness may be short-lived if she tells me what all straight girls say after nights like these: that it was a ‘mistake’, ‘lapse of judgment’, and that they’re sorry, but that they ‘can’t do this’, and it’s ‘wrong’ or that they’re ‘not gay’ so therefore they can’t, breaking your heart into a trillion little pieces.

My heart sank all the way to the pit of my stomach. At that moment, I wished that I could simply get rid of all my feelings for her. That way it wouldn’t hurt so much if she did tell me that she didn’t want to be with me, and that stuff like this couldn’t ever happen again. That’s the thing with falling for straight girls. Sometimes, if you’re lucky enough, you could get them into your bed, but in the end, you’re doomed to almost inevitable heartbreak.

    Spencer’s POV

We decided to forego taking a shower now, since we’d end up having to take another one once we came back from the beach. First we headed to Starbucks to get coffee and something to eat. Ashley was strangely quiet after I told her we needed to talk at the beach. She simply stared at the road as she drove us there. “Ash? You alright?” I think she was upset that I felt we needed to ‘talk’ about this. I think that in her mind, we should just be together, no if ands or buts. Or questions about it. Perhaps this would be so if I were actually gay, but I’m not. I’m confused. I’m also scared of where Ash is taking me, so to speak.
