“Babe, what the hell was that?” Ashley asked giving her girlfriend a puzzled look. Spencer chanced a look at her, and gave an equally confused look.

            “What are you talking about?”

            “That little hand kissing thing you just did! I mean, your little quirks are cute, but I don’t even know what that was!” the blonde blushed slightly.

            “Oh, it’s a superstitious thing. I picked it up from Glen. If the light turns yellow before you hit the intersection and you keep driving, you do that to prevent getting pulled over by a policeman. Well, supposedly.”

            “Does it work?”

            “I have yet to be pulled over,” the blonde replied in a matter-of-fact tone. This simply made Ashley laugh and shake her head.

            “You’re too cute, you know that?” Spencer pouted.

            “I want to be hot, not cute!”

            “Well, you’re both!”

            The girls had been listening to music and chatting away, allowing Ashley to forget about her previous fear of meeting the Carlins. But as soon as they got off the freeway and hit the neighborhoods, Ashley felt herself tense up. This didn’t go unnoticed by the blonde, who, in return, grabbed her girlfriend’s hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. This earned her a weak smile, but Ashley also relaxed slightly. They pulled up to Spencer’s house, and the brunette now had a death-grip on Spencer’s hand.

            “Geez, Ash! If you’re already this freaked out about meeting them, and I’m not even out, what are you going to be like when I tell them you’re my girlfriend?” the blonde teased. This earned her a glare from the brunette. Spencer sighed. “Babe, don’t worry about it, everything will be fine,” she told her in a calm and soothing voice. Ashley looked into her girlfriend’s eyes and let go of her death grip. “C’mon,” Spencer said continuing her calming tone, “let’s get this over with. I’ll even show you my room!” Ashley grinned, and followed her to her house. The blonde simply walked in, and called out, “I’m home!!!!!” Loud stomps could be heard descending down the stairs, and when Ashley looked up, she saw a guy not much older than them, who was obviously Spencer’s brother.
