    Paula’s coming out.

    Spencer: “Oooohhhhkay?” I let out as my mother takes my hand and leads me over to a dining room chair.

    Ashley: “I’ll let you two talk.” She gives a knowing smile to my mother and then to me and I’m suddenly very freaked out and a little aggravated.

    Paula: “No, Ash, please stay.”

    Spencer: “Yeah, ‘Ash,’ stay!” Again, Ashley looks to my mother.

    Ashley: “Are you sure?” My mom gives her an assuring smile and gestures for her to take a seat. Ashley sits next to me and begins to rub circles on my back with one hand. I look at her like the absolute crazy person she is, but then direct my attention to my insane mother when I feel her take my hand.

    Paula: “Spencer…” She begins, with a serious and searching expression. “Sometimes in life, we can’t explain the feelings and emotions that we have. Sometimes what we feel isn’t exactly the ‘norm.” Yes, she air-quoted. I look over to Ashley who is nodding along to what my mother is saying. “When I met your father, there was no rational explanation for what I felt for him; I just loved him.” Where the hell is this going?!

    Spencer: “Where the hell is this going?!”

    Paula: “What I’m trying to say, Spencer, is that you can’t help who you love!”

    Spencer: “Are you high?”

    Paula: “Well…”

    Spencer: “Oh my God! I was joking!” I say pulling back my hand to look at the blonde before me. I’m sure my eyes were saucer-big.

    Ashley: “Give her a chance, Spence.”

    Spencer: “Are you high too?!”

    Ashley: “Of course not.” Oh yeah, because that would be the crazy part of this whole thing!

    Paula: “Spencer, I just want you to know that I love you unconditionally and more important, I like you! I like the person you are and the woman you are becoming. And…I have to say, that I very much approve of Ashley!”

    Spencer: “What?!” What the hell is she talking about?!!!

    Paula: “She’s very beautiful…” She says looking at Ashley.

    Ashley: “Thank you, Paula!”

    Paula: “She’s smart, caring, sweet, funny…”

    Spencer: “Mom, are you trying to tell me that you have feelings for Ashley, because…” I mean, this is a little weird, right?

    9. first off yay you posted! thank you soooo much from the bottom of my heart dear stix. next WHAT? wtf is this all about now?!? they can’t die! unless you have them together in the after life or something then it would be slightly okay I guess, but oh man I’m on the edge of my seat biting my nails here! please don’t leave me hanging for too long! (seriously, I may not have any nails left, and I don’t think that’s too good of a look on anyone)
