So Close, Yet So Far Away. – (Chapter: I'm So Caught Up In Her.)
"Ok class, get to work." I wish I could, but I’m too focused on Spencer, sitting across from me.
I watch her quickly start to read what we were told. Her face scrunches up in concentration, but relaxes alittle when she gazes at the pictures. Deciding I better get reading, I look away from her only to meet the gaze of my best friend, Madison.
"What?" I mouth.
She just shakes her head and goes back to the book. Ok… what was that about? I shake off the question and get to work, glazing at Spencer every so often. Minutes later, Aiden taps her on the shoulder. What the hell does he want with her? He whispers something and she giggles. God, she’s so cute. I look away for a while, not wanting to make it obvious that I’m watching. I hear more giggles and look back up, Aiden is reading again.
"Ok so, lets discuss that section." Damn it. I didn’t even get half way through. "Anyone have an answer for 1a?" We were suppose to do that too? Oh jeez. Spencer is the first to raise her hand.
"Spencer."
"True."
"Good." The blonde smiles and continues.
"Now, 1b…"
"Hey Clay."
"So how has your day been?"
"Pretty good. You?"
"Its been great. Except for this morning we were almost late."
"Any specific reason?"
Rolling his eyes he says, "Spencer." Now he’s really got my attention. See, Clay is her adoptive brother. Along with Glen, but their blood.
"Oh. What’d she do?"
"She was busy doing her make up and all." She doesn’t even need make up. She’s beautiful without it.
"Oh."
"Yeah. Me and Glen were waiting in the car for her. We were in there for a good ten minutes."
"Hey you two." Chelsea greets, walking up.
"Hey baby." Clay responds, pecking her on the lips. She takes a seat next to him.
"You know, Clay, I was talking to your sister and she said that she was going to try out for cheerleading."
"Really? Spence? Cheerleading?" Wow. Thats hott. Hey, maybe I’ll see her while I’m at volleyball practice.
Walking into the gym with Mads, I spot her. She’s wearing some tight pair of gym short and a shirt barely covering her navel. Mmmmm. We walk past Spencer and open the locker room door. I make my way over to my locker and start to open it.
"Ash?"
"Yeah, Madison?"
"Uhh my parents are gonna be gone for the weekend, and I was thinking maybe we could hang out. Maybe you could sleep over."
"Sure that sounds fun." I answered, keeping focused on getting the lock open.
"Cool so, Saturday afternoon you could come over. They’ll be gone by then."
Facing her, I laugh. "Good. ‘Cause we both know how much your parents hate me."
"When they told me that they were leaving, the first thing that they said was, ‘No Ashley.’" She chuckled.
"Awww you’re gonna break the rules for me?" I joke, pointing at myself.
Mads suddenly got serious. "I’d do anything for you." All I did was smile.
The locker rooms door comes swinging open and to my surprise Spencer comes walking in. Followed by the rest of the people trying out. My stomach drops and my smile fades when she walks my way. Her pony tail is swinging from side to side, almost in sync with her hips. She glazes my way and gives me a smile. I smile back. Its small, but that’s because I’m so caught up in her.
