Ashley looked to her left and saw Spencer there in shock. It was like a replay from before. But this time, Ashley whole-heartedly loved Spencer.
“Get away from me Monica.” Ashley ran towards Spencer, “Spencer it’s not what you think. Baby, please let me explain.”
Inside her heart was breaking. Her mind was no longer free from worry. Why couldn’t Ashley say ‘no’ to those groupies? Maybe she didn’t really love her? Spencer pulled away from Ashley to walk away.
“Spencer, please! Spencer!” Ashley shouted not knowing what to do. She so badly wanted her to understand that nothing truly nothing had happened. She felt nothing with Monica and did nothing. Spencer walked towards her parents’ table.
Ashley did the only thing she knew how. She took the stage. Tapping the microphone, the sound guys made sure that it was on. “Spencer, please hear me out.”
The whole crowd turned around to look at Ashley. Groupies were standing all along the border of the stage screaming for Ashley.
Spencer reached her parents and was on the brink of crying, “Mom, Dad… can we please go?”
“What’s wrong honey?”, Paula asked rubbing her back.
“Nothing can we just go”
“It can’t be nothing. Why is Ashley on stage calling to you?”, Paula continued.
Spencer turned around to look at her. She hadn’t noticed that Ashley was on stage because her mind was so focused on being upset with her and getting out of there. She stood watching and listening, still in awe of how beautiful Ashley was even when she was mad at her. Even her mother commented on Ashley’s beauty up there.
“Spencer, please stop and listen to me. I… I. ..love you.” The words cranked out showing her nervousness. Ashley was not normally one to be nervous on stage, but she was exposing her true feelings to Spencer so that the whole crowd could hear, even her parents. So slight fear of the consequences was natural as the crowd became deathly silent.
“What you saw was not really happening. Please believe me. If you could just, give me a chance to explain.”
Spencer was annoyed and she screamed, “Why should I? You can’t decide what you want!” Her parents looked completely shocked at Spencer’s emotion. They had no idea of how much Ashley affected her because before then she had been a pretty quiet girl.
