The Anniversary – (Chapter: Earth to Ashley)
January 15 2009
Today at breakfast Ashley was acting really weird. She didn’t even look at me. I tried to break the ice.
“Babe, we should go see a movie tomorrow.” She didn’t even look up from her coffee and the paper. “Ash, what do think about going to the movies,” I asked.
“I can‘t go tomorrow night,” she replied still not looking up.
Did I do something wrong? It’s not like Ash to be so quite. She usually is the one cracking jokes and making me laugh. Now it’s like the old Ashley is being drained out of her. Now I have robot Ashley; its like she has no emotions.
“Why don’t you want to see the movie?” I asked her.
“I have stuff to do,” she said and got up from the table.
Ouch, I really need to know what’s going on. Every time we or at least I try to talk, most of the time it ends with Ash getting up and leaving. It’s like she doesn’t want me to know what’s going on.
“Ash, you really need to talk to her,” Aiden said to me. “Why do you say no to going to the movies anyway?”
Right now we’re out for lunch. I’ve been really tired lately, with the new CD and all, so Aiden though it would be a good idea to hang out and relive the stress. He’s trying to go Doctor Phil on me, I guess Kyla is rubbing off on him.
“Look, I fucking know ok?” I sort of yelled. “I didn’t want to go because I might slip up and say something. It’s just hard, I don’t know how she’ll take the news.”
“She’s going to know sooner or later. And with you being Ashley Davies, mega super-star, it’s going to be hard to keep a secret,” Aiden told me.
He did have a point, I mean I go out for a jog and everybody will know. I barely have any privacy now. Right now there are paparazzi standing outside the window waiting for us to get done eating. Same with Aiden, now that he’s famous with the NBA, there is always paparazzi storming him too. They just love us.
“You could tell her on your anniversary,” Aiden suggested to me.
“That’s so far away, I don’t think I can wait that long,” I said. “Our anniversary is like in three months.”
“Ash, actually it’s in a month,” he said looking at me from across the table.
“Aiden, I think I remember when it is, it was my wedding,” I stated starting to remember my wedding day. It was nothing big, Spence didn’t want any to big or flashy. She said all that mattered was us. It was held back in Ohio. Everything was perfect. Spence looked amazing in a simple but beautiful dress. I was so nervous. You think that after performing in front of millions around the world I wouldn’t be, but Spencer does something to me that makes me get butterflies in my stomach all over again.
“Earth to Ashley,” Aiden said waving his and in my face, bringing me out of my trance.
“Shit, you’re right. I only got a month to plan a perfect anniversary for Spencer and tell her the news.”
“Finally, you got it. Any idea’s yet?” he asked me.
“Not really, but I got to start making up for the way I’ve been treating Spencer. I just don’t know how to tell her the news.
“You’ll think of something Ash, you always do,” Aiden reassured me. Hopefully I’ll think of something soon!
