“Okay, so what does this have to do with me, exactly?” I ask, getting annoyed that this is happening right now.

“What the fuck did you tell her?” Aiden nearly seethes and I’m a little taken back by his harsh tone.

“Whoa, easy killer.” I say, trying to tame the beast. “I just told her the shit you tried to pull on me and this shit you did pull on Ashley.” I would have stood up to punctuate my point, if I had strength. Is he really trying to get mad at me for telling my friend the truth about his deception and manipulative ways? This was not the day to fuck with Spencer Carlin.

He lets out a sigh of what seems like disbelief as he busily looks around the room trying to search for a defense to my statement. He looks back to Kyla. “Look Kyla, yeah I did some pretty fucked up shit in my past.”

“Your past?” I interrupt him. “Aiden you tried to rape me just a few months ago, that’s not that far in the past if you ask me. And I might not have been the last girl you tried to rape.” I’m not letting him get that off that easy, and it seems like Kyla’s a pushover so I know she’ll believe anything he says.

They both look at me for a moment and I don’t lose eye contact with Aiden before he turns back to Kyla and resuming their previous positions. “I know none of this is going to sound good, but Spencer was the last girl I tried to take advantage of.” Well that’s one way of wording it. “But I promise to you I would never do anything to hurt you.” His voice is desperate and I see Kyla’s expression soften. I roll my eyes at her gullible self.

Aiden takes her hands in his and continues. “Please trust me Kyla, just take this chance on me and I won’t let you down.” I’ve heard enough and grab my books to head to the local coffee house to study, don’t ask me why but I find it more of a suitable place for me to study than the library. Maybe it’s because there are more distractions at a coffee house than a library.
