The Grown Up Years – (Chapter: Chapter 4: Ashley's Last Trick)
It had been two days since I threw away Spencer’s box, and it had been the worst two days of my life. She wouldn’t even look at me. It didn’t matter how many times I apologized or sent her flowers, to her it’s like I don’t even exist anymore. But, being Ashley Davies I have one last trick up my sleeve and if this doesn’t work, I don’t know what will.
I had taken off work today to work on Spencer’s surprise. I even went to Paula for backup, and after I explained what happened she agreed to help me. After Spencer and I finally got married Paula was a lot more accepting of me, and now me and her are pretty good friends.
When I was done putting the finishing touches on the bedroom I went to go get dressed. I put on a read strapless dress that cut off right before my knees and fit my body like a glove. I also wore a pair red open toed heels. If there was one thing Spencer couldn’t resist it was me in this dress. I figured if she doesn’t forgive me I can at least show her what she’s missing out on.
I’m really starting to get nervous. It’s 5:57 and Spencer is usually home at 6:00. I’m so scared that this won’t work and she’s never gonna forgive me. But if there is one thing I’ve learned from Spencer is you have to but your heart on the line. It’s the only way to show someone you really care about them.
As I heard the door slam shut I knew she was home. It would only be a matter of seconds before she would be walking through the bedroom door. I could hear her footsteps coming up the stairs and my heart really started to race. I thought I was about to pass out. As the bedroom door creaked open I put on my most genuine smile and waited for her reaction. But, there was no reaction as she walked through the door. She was frozen on the spot and I couldn’t tell if it was good shock or bad. The room was completely covered in letters, everything from the ceiling to the floor. And each of the letters was filled stated how much I loved and adored Spencer. They’re a lot like the ones I wrote before we were married when I was completely whipped by her. I had even managed to find some old letters her grandmother had written her when she was little (thanks to Paula). The only thing that wasn’t covered in paper was the bed, which I covered in rose pedals.
